We’ll never see this, but I’d really be curious to find out how much this lovely clickwhore attention move by the Star backfired through subscription cancellations. And people are talking about this, but the “letter” was so short that it was easily passed around without people giving the website any clicks. Like… how much money did this shit actually lose them?

Also, how much did they lose by defending Brooke Pryor like they did?

The unfortunate reality is that they, like many local newspapers, are bleeding subscribers. Their way to make money is clicks. And the best bait is troll clickbait. They may have realized that’s where the money is and I really hope this isn’t the start of a trend.
