Cataracts

Ugh.

Had my eyes checked and have a cataract in my right eye that requires surgery. My left has a cataract but it's minor.

My doc said that people over 60 have cataracts 90% of the time. It's just a matter of severity.

Anyone had this surgery?

I dread sharp objects cutting into my eyeball, no matter how safe it is.

I was born with cataracts, but they never got bad. My vision was always around 20/40 but cloudy. I had the surgery in the early 2000's and it's a huge difference in clarity. I was shocked how bright everything was the first time I went in a grocery store afterwards. Boxes of Tide were blinding. But the surgery itself...nothing to fear.

I don't have any issues yet, but my eye dr. explained a few tbing during a routine exam. As I understand it there are basically 3 levels Good, Better and Best. Of course the price changes with each.. But they can correct vision. I golf with several people who had it done. None of them where glasses anymore with the exception of the occasional readers. One guy says he sees halos while driving at night.

Three of my friends had the surgery. One died during and two are now completely blind. Good luck!
