Kansas City Chiefs: Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma
Harrison’s a true left tackle, and would give the Chiefs the flexibility to either put Jawaan Taylor back at right tackle, where he played in Jacksonville, or move Harrison there. Either way, getting Harrison here (I think he could go in the teens) would be a steal for the Chiefs. Kansas City’s fished around on a trade up, and I think it’d be with Flowers or Gibbs as a target. If those guys aren’t there for K.C., I’d see Harrison in a group with Michigan DT Mazi Smith and Tennessee WR Jalin Hyatt to be considered at No. 31.

You missed the point.
That's a far cry from LTs that can come in and start at LT as a rookie at some point. If you take a guy in the 2nd or 3rd with the idea of red-shirting him, you get 3 years (maybe) of quality OT play from him. But if you can take a 1st rounder who may well be able to play in year 1, you're getting 5 years. That's a MASSIVE difference in value.

And even setting the bar lower, there are very very few OTs in this class that have the ability to be the kind of pass protector Harrison has shown capable of being even if they develop as well as you could possibly hope.

But at one of those positions there's going to be a break at or immediately after a player available to us.

I really do think the board will make the pick obvious for us. It's not a given - but I think it's more likely than not.
I honestly think with the lack of top talent and abundance of good, high floor guys we're less likely to have a single obvious pick and more likely to have 2, 3, 4 guys that are much of a muchness and it comes down to perceived need.

I guess I can see a scenario where you're right, something like Harrison is available, Johnston, Flowers, JSN are gone, Murphy and Van Ness are gone, and you just go Harrison. But it's more likely for me you've got e.g. Darnell Wright, Kincaid, Hyatt, Felix Anudike-Uzomah and Mazi Smith and it's not THAT obvious. I'm not sure I expect us all to be screaming the same name come pick 31.
