'Tis Draft Eve

On the eve of this year's draft, I just wanted to say I strongly feel this will be one of those drafts we reflect upon a few years from now and say, Wow!

We already know what our second round pick is- Surtain, of course. We can take comfort in knowing we have a dependable veteran to fill a dramatic need.

What's good is- we still have a lot picks to add some depth, and hopefully find a gem or two to fill some needs.

My gut tells me something exciting will happen for us in the first round and that we will get very lucky- whether this means we nailed a Carlos Rogers or a Derrick Johnson, I'm not sure. It could also mean a blockbuster trade to secure even more picks.

But, I honestly believe Carl and his boys are going to use sound judgement this time around. I trust they will succeed again in the mid-to-late rounds, but more importantly- I think they just might get a steal in the first and third rounds.

Call me eternally optimistic or a blind homer, but I'm getting the same feeling as a child does on Christmas eve- and that it doesn't matter if Santa is real or not- the magic always is. Let us hope we score some magic tomorrow on the day of the draft.

Most years I'm dreading the draft. But they haven't horribly bungled the offseason this time around.
