Thank goodness Allen is gone.

If Allen were not traded, the Chiefs don't go 2-14 last year. The Chiefs don't set the record for fewest sacks in a year. The Chiefs don't have massive changes.

CP probably would have stuck it out at least another year. If not, the Chiefs would have probably gone with Kuharich, whom most believed was being groomed to be CP's replacement.

With CP or Kuharich, and a decent season, Herm Edwards would be strolling up and down the sidelines right now.

The reality is that it took a total shit season to cause the massive changes with the Chiefs.

And, with Jared Allen.... the Chiefs would have not had a massively shit season.

Heck, with Kuharich, Herm and Allen, the Chiefs would in fact be better than they are right now. I truly believe that. But, they would still be mediocre.

This is painful. This is the worst I have ever seen as a Chiefs fan....even worse than the 80's.

But, as bad as it is, I would rather build something with Pioli that I think can be great someday, than continue to be a 'decent' team over the next 20 years and struggle to win a playoff game.

So, yeah, Allen had a great game last night. (don't forget the line he faced was worse, much worse, than the Chiefs) Allen is a great player. But, the loss of Allen gave us more than just a few picks. It gave us a new GM. It gave us a new head coach. It gave us a new foundation. It gave us a new direction.

So, good riddance Jared Allen.

I can't go along with that one.I'll never think that trading JA was a good thing.Maybe the team didn't have the money to spend in that area at the time, but I hate loosing players like him.People always say you draft the best player available, versus the player you actually need.Well that's just reeruned in my opinion, cause if that's the key to victory, then you should also keep the best players you have.

The Green Bay second and third string offensive lineman are better than our starters...

Did they not put up 20 points? We'd be lucky to get three points against Minny's "D".

None of these moves benefited the team

The thought of Allen dropping back into coverage makes me chuckle. You could see the disdain in Kampman's face last night.

Jared Allen alone isn't enough to overcome the 20-year stench of Carl Peterson. Keeping Allen was only prolonging the inevitable.

Maybe so...I just hear coaches always preaching that if you have good players you will improve. So to me trading good players just isn't the thing to do if you are trying to improve. We can beat this to death for the next 20 years.JA is gone, done deal, nuff said.

Bullshit.

Keeping the best defensive player the team has had in a decade as he's entering his prime is laying the foundation for a good team.

The Chiefs needed to overcome years of poor draft and free agent evaluation. They didn't need to overcome the one time they got lucky.
