Boy gets his Wish for Snow

CAMDENTON -- In July KRCG brought you the story of Colton Thurman, a four-year-old Lake area boy who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor back in January.
His health is declining and doctors do not expect him to live much longer-so Tuesday KRCG made a special wish of his come true.

The tumor in Colton's brain stem has grown back to its original size and he likely has only a short time left.

I talked to Colton's mom last week and asked her if there was anything Colton was wanting or needing. She said her little boy was begging to see snow. So Tuesday, we made that happen.

The Washington Park Ice Arena scraped the ice rink and loaded the icy snow mixture for us.

Dan Vanderfeld with Handy Jon Trash Service at the Lake donated his time and truck to haul the commercial dumpster full of snow to the Thurman's front yard.

Colton stayed on the front steps, watching his family and friends play and throwing some snow balls.

"When we get that little smile, no matter how much it might be, it makes everything better," says Colton's mother Amanda Pasinski.

Amanda says Colton is in a lot of pain these days and taking morphine every two hours.

His vision is faltering and Colton spends most of his time on the couch.

He is also quickly realizing the gravity his illness.

"He is aware of the situation," says Amanda. "He'll sit there and ask Mommy and Daddy at night if he's going to die. He'll sit there and beg us not to let him die. It tears my heart in pieces."

Colton's family celebrated Christmas last month so Colton could see Santa.

They tell me they are simply trying to live each day of Colton's life to its fullest and enjoy these final moments with their little boy.

Colton also wants to go deer hunting while he is still able to. A neighbor is working now to make that wish come true.
