The younger guys at work do this and claim it's awesome. I'm too old for that anymore, but would have been first in line for it 10-15 years ago. Looks like a blast.

I'd die about 1/4 through that. lol. Looks fun, but I'm too out of shape to even think about it. I'm cramping up just watching it.

As long as there is a good looking half naked female needing my constant help in raising her and helping her climb, I am in.
In all seriousness though, I would love to be part of this. Posted via Mobile Device |

Your not kidding! I'm not horribly out of shape, but definitely need to work on cardio like a mudder!!
I think it is a thing where you need to be in good physical shape, but how far you take it and how well you do depends on how seriously you take it. You see all shapes and sizes doing it in videos. |

I figure I'm doing pretty good to get my ass on a treadmill 3-4 days a week. No way I have that in me anymore. Probably when I was 25, now not so much.
Good luck. |

I'm confused whether or not there's one in KC next year. I swear back when I first looked, they had one listed as "Tough Mudder - Missouri" that appeared on their map to be in KC, but when you clicked it, it was actually in Poplar Bluff. Now they have the "Missouri" one in the right spot in the map and have another race in KC. But it has no specifics, just says "Coming Soon".

I thought someone died last year from heat exhaustion doing an event like this in Kansas City. Although, I think is was a different sponsor or production than this one. I imagine it may be difficult now to get a license in this area or whatever else is needed.

Some similar stuff when I was younger. No women in spandex or beer at the end.

Yes, did one last month. It is about three to three and a half hours depending on your condition.
It was not constant movement- you are waiting at each obstacle for others to go through so you get breaks. Don't wear good shoes- they'll be trashed. If you can run 5-6 miles in one shot comfortably, you'll be fine. Then work on pullups, dips, monkey bars, etc. Much climbing. Bring flip flops at the end, and a towel (obviously). They have water and bananas along the route like most races. You will see gloves, hats, shoes, sweatshirts littered all over the race course. In the attached pic I'm wearing a hat I picked up, as well as gloves. IMO, you don't need any extra kit. If you're running in cold weather, you'll want a sweatshirt and socks/shoes at the end. Also- Under Armor compression shorts are a must; you will get your junk smashed without them. Good luck. Last edited by Cheater5; 01-26-2012 at 02:02 PM.. |
