Selling your memorabilia

Anyone gone through the process of having your stuff authenticated? I’ve got a SB IV team signed ball that came from my grandfather who was an ironworker during construction (which began in 68). I’ve also got a team signed ball that came from a golf tournament, which has unfortunately lost the tournament decal and I’m drawing a blank on the sponsor. Most notably, it’s got a Joe Delaney sig. where might one go to get such things authenticated?

PSA is probably #1. Keep in mind, it's not cheap. I sent them a 2014 Patriots team signed ball that came back fake. Cost me $340

Ouch.

That SB IV ball is selling for $5-8k if I can get it authenticated. But DAMN.

I have zero reason to believe either ball is a fake, as neither my father or grandfather were football fans. Grandpa got the SB ball as part of the Arrowhead construction and Dad got the 81 ball from a Farm and Home Savings golf tournament. Maybe I could write Patrick a heartfelt letter and convince him to buy #1 to display along 2 and 3.

Fly to Vegas and go to the Pawn Shop. Rick will call a friend in to authenticate your items.

I'm really curious how the entire team signed a golf ball.

I’ve got the hard hat he wore and his union cards. With I still had the preseason game tickets that we attended.

The three reputable third party authenticators are:

Beckett Authentic (BAS)
PSA/DNA
James Spence Authentic (JSA)

Comparable items authenticated by all 3 companies all sell for roughly the same.

If you live in Texarkana like it says under your user name, it would probably be easiest for you to just drop it off at Beckett's headquarters in Dallas. I'm pretty sure they offer same day turnaround. You can also see if BAS, JSA, or PSA/DNA are attending any shows near you (I know they go to the show in Allen, TX every 2 months...one of the best shows in the nation BTW). And of course, you can always mail your item in but having it done in person avoids shipping/insurance costs and the possibility of it getting lost in the mail.
