Bears land 2007 No. 4 pick Adams from Bucs

Gaines Adams-DL-Bears Oct. 16 - 8:45 pm et

Bears acquired DE Gaines Adams from the Buccaneers in exchange for what is believed to be a 2010 second-round draft pick.
While Bucs GM Mark Dominik mails in the season by dealing off his most gifted pass rusher and nearing insertion of an underclassman rookie QB, Bears GM Jerry Angelo is in the talent acquisition business. Trading first-day picks isn't advised, except when the return is a 26-year-old with dominating ability and a contract through 2012. Jim Bates, who's clearly lost his touch, couldn't get enough out of Adams in his first season as Bucs defensive coordinator. It's a good bet that Bears defensive line coach Rod Marinelli will.

Good trade, a top 5 pick for a 2nd rounder.

Just give away your players guys.

Jesus Christ. A 2nd rounder for a top 5 pick from 2 years ago? That's sick.

Holy shit.

Holy, ****ing, shit.

What a phenomenal trade for the Bears. Dude is 26, reasonably affordable (given that most of his bonus money should be paid out), and has had a solid start to his career. He'll thrive in the Windy City.

So that is now 2 top 5 players that have been traded for peanuts while we continue to sign scrubs for the right 53.

Given where that pick is gonna be, we probably could have offered our 2 and gotten back Adams and a 4 from the Bucs.

Of course, we'd probably have to install the 4-3 then...

Supposedly, the Browns are shopping Quinn for a mid-late round pick. If I'm the Rams, why am I not on the phone right ****ing now?

I don't think people here would be happy if we had given up a 2nd, 3rd, 5th and two players for Edwards and gaines when essentially there are a million other positions to upgrade....

The 3-4 was the biggest head scratching wtf moment of this entire offseason, and there have been a few.

I'm just trying to imagine a 4-3 that has the following players:

RDE: Adams
3T: Dorsey
NT: Tyler
LDE: Hali

WLB: Williams
MLB: Mauluga
SLB: Johnson

FS: Mays
SS: Morgan
RCB: Flowers
LCB: Carr

Of course, we may have a different QB there...

If the Chiefs stick with 4-3 and make this move...you have Dorsey and Adams and you can add either Suh or Dunlap in the draft and all of the sudden you're front 4 is scary good.

Teams are so willing to just give up on talent they paid dearly for. The Browns essentially gave up a 1 and a 2 to get him.
