Life After Death: Fact or Fiction
I was watching this documentary a few days ago regarding the subject, life after death. I am curious to know how the Planet feels about life after death: Do you believe in it? Or do you believe that we are nothing but a physical being that once it expires- that is it. You’re as good as gone.
Halloween is coming up, so I thought I’d bring this up, and see how everyone feels...I’m not interested in stirring debates or embarrassing anyone- I’m just curious. You can share a story if you wish, or simply say you do or don’t believe- and leave it at that. I do have an experience that to this day, I myself simply cannot explain: One night I left my mother’s house in Overland Park to drive home, after having dinner with her. We were both surprised to discover it was snowing. She kissed me on the cheek and told me to be careful- which I was- somewhat... Anyways, I’m going north on 69 and approaching the 435 overpass when I see a lot of blinking red lights in the blizzard-like snow conditions. I had a Subaru 4-wheel drive vehicle at the time and doing 50 for I wasn’t concerned about the weather, even though I should have been. Anyways, I’m fast approaching the overpass when it dawned on me the red lights were now all steady. Someone had lost control of their vehicle on the overpass and wiped out in front of a dozen cars. I didn’t know this. I couldn’t see through the blinding snowfall, not to mention I was in an upgrade. Before I knew it, I was inches from the vehicles in front of me. Life as I knew it was over. That was all I recall- this rare, undeveloped feeling of having died without actually dying. There was nowhere for me to go. I couldn’t slam on my brakes for I would have lost control of my own vehicle and encountered certain severe injury, if not fatality. I couldn’t tap on my brakes for the distance between me and the rear vehicles in this “near pile-up” was too short. Therefore, I thought it was over for me. I recall yelling out loud, “Please God, spare these people!” In one unselfish act of kindness, I asked that I didn’t hurt (or certainly kill) anyone... But, the strangest and quite honestly one of the most beautiful experiences in my life happened there on a snowy highway- it was as though someone suddenly took complete control of my vehicle and pointed it toward the guardrail- out of harms way of anyone- including myself. My car bounced off the guardrail like a rubber ball, sideswiped another vehicle, and bounced off the guardrail again. Only minor damage was done to the car I hit. My car, however, was totaled. But, I was inherently alive. Trust me- my instincts did not point my automobile in the right direction. I know my own instincts. I can’t quite explain the feeling I had at that moment, and it may be that the adrenaline was so high, so profound that my (our) brain exceeds even my (our) our own expectations. That can be easily measured- but I still somewhat believe someone was “watching over me.” It’s not a life after death story, but if there is “life after death” someone was there, with me, in awesome spirit- guiding the way. |
