I heard Ian Gold will be released by the Bucs for

money reasons. Brooks is their guy at WLB. He would be welcome in my book. Good speed and he might teach Fox a few things. Fox was a monster in college, why haven't we given him a longer look?

Didn't he have a bad knee injury while at Denver? I have not heard anything on him for a while. Sometimes it takes over a year to come back from a knee injury. He was a monster for Denver.

Where did you hear this?

If true I totally agree with your post and reasoning about signing him. I'd like to see Fox pan out for us and Gold might be just the right mentor or model for him as well as a short term solution at LB.

Won't happen...DV said he doesn't need FA players to come in and ruin his team chemistry. He is going to keep all the same coaches and all the same players. They are "profile" guys and he doesn't want to take a chance on a FA that might not work out.

He's still young (will be 27 this year) but kind of lite (223) for a LB. He started three years and was injured most of the fourth when with the Donks. His best year seemed to be 2002 when he had 85 solo tackles. He had 54 solo tackles with the Bucs last year.

at that size, he better have very good speed...

i'd be leery of his knee injury...

of course, even if he had only one leg, he'd probably be better than what we have now...

Gold is a bit undersized and I can't recall the injury he had, but it was part of the reason Denver let him go find the big money. IIRC, he had a pretty good year with Tampa.

I think he's a helluva young player that is still very hungry. He wanted more money, left Denver ... got it, and now might be cut. So, I'm sure that is humbling.

I'd be fine with Denver bringing him back, but doubt that happens. Gold is a solid option for any team in my opinion.

If MHM is saying good things about him we better hope the Chiefs stay away from him.
