Voyager Says;

Just give the starting MLB job to Mitchell. He was playing much better at the end of the season. He was a 2nd round pick for KC. He needs to be on the field. Getting a veteran CB like Surtain should be KC's main focus. They are wasting time on Trotter and Hartwell. CP is going to mess this thing up the way he is going. Trotter has knee concerns. Hartwell is good, but is he dramatically better than Mitchell? In other words, who is more important to the Chiefs' defense...Surtain or Trotter/Hartwell? I choose Surtain, CB.

It'd be so funny if during camp, Mitchell had an awakening and beat out whoever we signed for the starting job. I can see it now, Genious after Genious here would be saying "I was behind him all the way," and "We're never patient enough with our draft picks."
Of course, I'm just a blind homer so take my post with a grain of salt.

I think I'd prefer to see Mike Maszlowski beat him with a tire iron, followed by Mitchell coming out of a two week coma realizing that Gunther is right about everything, and Stephen Hawking has made an error in his calculations on perpetual expansion of the Universe due to an improper mass assumption for quantum strings and gravity leaks.

Actually, I will say now that I did notice Mitchell improving a lot by season's end. At this point, however, he still has a ways to go to be a good MLB. I think he's got a lot of petential. We'll have to see if he ever meets that potential. I haven't given up hope on him yet. But we can't wait to see if he gets good. Signing a Trotter or Hartwell right now is a smart move, IMO. Mitchell may not get good for another couple years or so. Or he may never pan out in the NFL. At this point, the Chiefs can't rely on potential.

Don't misunderstand my statements. I agree that the Chiefs will sign someone to play MLB. I just think it would be really amusing to see Mitchell beat out whoever they brought in.

You mean somewhere in this universe Voyager made a post that was something other than a mock draft? Someone did mention gravity leaks on this thread, so that may be why.

You know, if they bring in Hartwell....and that happens, Hartwell immediately becomes the other Will LB...

I could live with that, IF it is because Mitchell has improved that much.

If Mitchell improves that much, we'll definitly be in a great position. I'm not counting on it by any means.

I could be wrong, but by the END of the year....I think Gun was happy with Fujita, and intrigued by Mitchell's "progress." If nothin' else, he'd be an experienced, and quality backup to either Hartwell or Trotter.

Mitchell will be the backup to whoever they're able to sign, if anyone. Gun has said on several occasions that it takes him several years to get his LB's to play like he wants them. Our guys have one season under their belts.
