I dont know what B.D. suggested but if you could include some daily excercise your weight loss will increase significantly. I have lost 45lbs since last NOvember and I owe it MORE to a good excercise (lots of lifting and cardio) AND a good, well balanced diet. Not zero carbs, but controlled low good carbs (whole grains). You may want to add some other supplements as well: Fish oil and a good multivitamin. Im getting back into the powerlifting so I am taking in ALOT of protein...for me All The Whey is the cheapest and tastes the best; Optimum Nutrition is hard to beat for taste alone but its a little more expensive. 8 lbs in a week. Are you doing the full blown Atkins diet? Whats your menu lookin like?
I know you probably already know this, but most of that is water weight. Not that that is a bad thing.

The true mercenary that I am, I took my mom up on her "pounds for dollars" proposal - this was a bet from last Christmas. I started at 298, and weighed in yesterday at 282, halfway to the loss goal of 30 lbs.
I did the post weigh-in thing of celebrating with a bagel this morning. Tomorrow, I'm back on the low-carb, working from now until the end of the year on the next fifteen. I think my goals are realistic, and I'm pleased at my success so far. Wahoo!
