Going Low carb

Taking suggestions. Trying some of Big Daddys suggestions, whey protein, fruit & vegetables. Only carbs going into me are from fruit right now. Down 10 from the beginning of last week already.

Goal: 280 by the 4th of July, 260 by September 16th.

I dont know what B.D. suggested but if you could include some daily excercise your weight loss will increase significantly. I have lost 45lbs since last NOvember and I owe it MORE to a good excercise (lots of lifting and cardio) AND a good, well balanced diet. Not zero carbs, but controlled low good carbs (whole grains). You may want to add some other supplements as well: Fish oil and a good multivitamin. Im getting back into the powerlifting so I am taking in ALOT of protein...for me All The Whey is the cheapest and tastes the best; Optimum Nutrition is hard to beat for taste alone but its a little more expensive. Good luck.

Wish I could do the aerobic/cardio. My problems with that are two fold. About 14 years ago I utterly destroyed my right knee (shredded the meniscus, thing twisting and pulling a chicken leg from te thigh). I also have a minor heart condition, but in my current physical state, I need to lose before I start to exercise vigorously.

I'm doing low carb right now, working in a little fruit every now and again. I've lost 12 lbs., three pounds away from my July 4th goal. Started at 298... I want to be at or below 260 by Christmas.

My kids are getting more interested in sports, so the more I throw the softball, play basketball with them the better off I'll be. I need to get them riding their bikes, but my knee is the real proble there - I can't run alongside them. Until I can get my wife to help, they aren't going to be bike riders, and she always working on the weekend.

8 lbs in a week. Are you doing the full blown Atkins diet? Whats your menu lookin like?

I know you probably already know this, but most of that is water weight. Not that that is a bad thing.

Yeah. I'm on induction of sorts. I'd call my regime a modified low carb diet. I don't subscribe to any program from any of the popular diets, I simply watch my carb intake.

I'm feeling pretty good. It sure is nice when the gut starts shrinking. This included a long day of drinking beverages Saturday. I'm certain I went over 20 carbs. Hell, I may have gone way, way over.

I'm eating a lot of smoked chicken, pork, and some beef. I made some beanless chili. Salad. Low carb powerbars. Tons of cheese. Bacon. Eggs.

The true mercenary that I am, I took my mom up on her "pounds for dollars" proposal - this was a bet from last Christmas. I started at 298, and weighed in yesterday at 282, halfway to the loss goal of 30 lbs.

I did the post weigh-in thing of celebrating with a bagel this morning. Tomorrow, I'm back on the low-carb, working from now until the end of the year on the next fifteen. I think my goals are realistic, and I'm pleased at my success so far.
