Sept. 7, 2005 – Electronic Arts announced today that MVP™ 06 NCAA® Baseball is in development and scheduled for release in spring 2006 under the EA SPORTS™ brand. This new version of the best-selling and critically acclaimed MVP Baseball™ franchise is being produced by Electronic Arts Canada in Vancouver, B.C., and will celebrate everything that makes NCAA® baseball unique -- aluminum bats, intense action, and stadiums filled with school spirit and packed with passionate fans.

From the same developers of the franchise that IGN earlier this year called the “best baseball experience on the market”, MVP 06 NCAA Baseball will debut new batting and throwing systems, the nation’s top universities and conferences, and a deep college-specific Dynasty Mode™ that takes you on the “Road to Omaha®” with baseball’s brightest young stars.

Complete with an engaging visual presentation and ESPN’s Mike Patrick and former Stanford All-American Kyle Peterson calling the action, MVP 06 NCAA Baseball features an all-new Custom Ballpark feature and a robust Create a Player option. The game also includes exclusive new online* features for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and Xbox Live®.

College baseball in general is about as exciting as women's basketball. That is to say, it's not.

The world series this year saw some pretty good games, but why in the hell would I want to play a whole season of baseball games with crappy pitchers and weak hitters?

I have NEVER been able to get into college baseball, even when I lived next door to Hoglund Field and could go to games any time. On top of constant rain/snow outs, MOST college baseball teams seem to suck pretty hard.

Most superstars can sign right out of high school, but still quite a few good players come from the college ranks. I like it.

This is because Sega (ESPN) has the MLB exclusive rights. Which sucks, because I perfer EA's MVP Baseball series to the 2k series. I'll rent it, but it probably won't be a purchase.

Depends on how you want to define "field."

On the bright side, they're supposedly getting better, especially in recruiting, since Daron Schoenrock (previously a Miss. State assistant and their top recruiter) got here last year. Lots of players who would have never considered Memphis in baseball are now signing, so that's a plus. The strength of the new C-USA as one of the top baseball conferences in the country will either pick the program up or hold it down.
