Flash Drives

I have to buy a flash drive for a class I'm in, and I'm wondering if any of you know of any good deals. I need to be able to pick this up in a store, as I need it by Wednesday.

256MB is the minimum I can get, also does name brand make a big difference?

Circuit City has a Memorex 512MB USB drive for $60, with [2] mail-in rebate totaling $35. Net $25.

It looks like that thread is mostly discussing the benefits of a flash drive, and what they are...

I know what they are, and know I am required to get one for my class, so that thread really doesn't help me at all. Not to mention, if any good deals were mentioned in that thread, I'm quite sure they aren't still good at this time.

By the way, I bought one yesterday at Staples. 512mb for 34 dollars, plus an online rebate for 10 dollars, so all in all it was 24 bucks.

Thanks for your help GAZ, nearest Circuit City was too far away for me to check out on my lunch break, so I ended up at Staples.

Super walmart had some cheap lexar ones a while back when I bought mine. Paid around 30 for a 256 around two years ago then.

The one I bought from Staples was fried... didn't work at all. I went back and got another one from the same company, and works great.

I have a PNY "Attache'" 512 M and it works great. I put complete CD's(around 4 total) on it and trade with friends. No probs with it and it is very small and easy to use!

Yup thats the one I bought from Staples, exact same one.

The first one was fried out of the package, but when I took it back and got a replacement it works great.

The first one I got proudly displayed on the drive that it was assembled in the USA. It didn't work.

The second one says made in China and is working fine.

I recently bought a 1G Sandisk Cruzer mini.

Unfortunately, it comes with U3 built in. The U3 program continually crashes and has conflicts with CD burning programs (it installs itself as a CD drive AND a flash drive). Not only that, but the U3 programs take up almost 200 megs, so it isn't really a 1G drive.

Glad you found one, joe. I just thought I'd put in my 2 cents. I got a 256mb Lexar for Christmas from my brother-in-law. Never really thought much about jump drives before that. But now that I have one, I can't believe I went without for so long. It's very convenient for transferring files from home PC, work PC, friend's PC, etc.
