Bit Torrent ?

I had never really gotten into downloading stuff. Did some google searches and couldn't believe how much is out there. How exactly does everyone get away with this? Don't get me wrong, it rocks. I just don't understand how they shut down napster yet this seems to be going like gangbusters.

BitTorrent thrives on the fact that it is completely decentralized. Most of the trackers are hosted overseas where governments aren't as anxious to get involved in copyright issues. Basically, there isn't a "BitTorrent" company to go after, so it's tough to stop.

Torrent is true peer to peer and the sites are based in countries with weak copyright laws. They've been shutting them down left and right....

Thanks, ever heard of them coming after folks for downloading. I'm sure it would be an uphill battle, but it would suck to be the one they decided to make an example of.

Yes. All the time. When you are downloading on bittorent you are also uploading. If you are downloading movies or tv shows don't be surprised if you get a nasty letter from your internet provider telling you that you're being sued by the riaa.

Well, that would suck. I haven't really downloaded much anyway. Some of the games people bit torrent, I guess that would count also.
