First they were ripped off by Zebras when the refs failed to stop the clock after a sack for Pittsburgh's FG attempt last week that would have won the game, then this week, they were denied an obvious TD when the refs ruled that the receiver did not break the plane. I'm a Chiefs fan, all the way, but it stinks to be Bill Cowher looking at an 0-4 start (and a possible firing) when in all fairness, Pitt should be 2-2 and in the hunt.

Yeah, they got hosed, but this could work to our advantage. Marty finally takes another head coaching job, Kurt follows Marty, and the recently-fired Cowher becomes our new DC!

I like it!

Hell NO! The last thing I want is to revert back to Marty-style after we've finally seen some evolvement. And Gun will never be our DC again. It's HC or nothing. If we fired him he'd be hired before his desk was cleaned out.

Hi, Pam.

I must respectfully disagree strongly. Cowher as head coach? Ick. Gunther's making better offensive decisions (at least lately) that Bill, who has demonstrated that he's in over his head as HC. Anyone who thinks Cordell Stewart is the answer to any problem has no business making offensive personnel decisions.

Drop the clipboard and slowly back away....

The Steelers would not necessarily be 2-2. In the game against the Browns, had they made the chip shot would have tied the game and sent it to overtime, not win the game out right.

Hey G_Man!

You said in an earlier post that our team has evolved under Gun. It doesn't appear, at this moment however, that our team has progressed under Gun. What I've seen is a shift in strengths. Under Marty we seemed to have an above average and consistent ground game with a supplemental pass attack or play action. If indeed we've evolved, it would seem weve evolved from the consitent ground game and average pass attack to an above average pass attack and a impotent ground game. Furthermore, I could see our passing game Evolving toward the likes of the Early 90's Bills. Unfortunetly, They went to the final frame because they had an above average running game. I have yet to see any "evolution" in the Chiefs under Gun, but I do have faith that they will improve at all positions under him. We as fans should allot him at least 2-3 more seasons(not including this one) then we can entertain serious thoughts of the Super Bowl.

Go Chiefs!

p.s. Bill Cowher has the best poopie face in football. I wish him the best of luck in his NFL ventures.

In today's NFL, I think Cowher's coaching style gets tiresome to players, which, IMO, has as much to do with players leaving via free agency as does the cap, and the money elsewhere. Same thing happened to Ditka in Chicago. Adults get tired of beig treated like children.

I wasn't really commenting on Cowher's abilities as a HC (he did the Steelers to a SB), but the way that he has been ripped off ROYALLY this young season TWICE, costing him 2 games that his players deserved to win, or at least take into OT. That is beyond the scope of the coach and the players. How blind can the zebras be when they now have Instant Replay?

Dittos on that!

I would love to see the NFL go to professional refrees.

chief_red_pants - I never said our team is doing any better, but it sure seems a lot more promising. You can't go from a conservative, veteran-based team to a young passing team and have immediate success (although we're doing pretty good). I don't think our running game is bad because of Cunningham, it's bad because we have no HB and we still have RBbC (something that NEEDS to go). Gun's not perfect, but I don't see how hiring Marty Cowher as HC is going to help us evolve any further. I'm not a 100% Gun-backer, don't get me wrong, but if we DO get another HC I don't want to go back to what we've already had here as it was not, and will not be, successful in the modern NFL.

Most of the officials in the NFL and college football ranks fill important positions in the workaday world. Officiating is a secondary vocation for them, though it's obviously something they enjoy doing and doing well. If forced to make a choice between officiating and their primary jobs, most would probably choose their primary jobs (e.g. teachers, lawyers, bankers, insurance agents, businessmen, etc.), which is good for us as citizens who depend on having capable folks being productively employed.

I'd rather they keep the current "glorified hobbyist"-type system. I'd rather be pissed off at an official who I know does other worthwhile things in society than one whose only job is to flub calls in a football game. After all, there's always going to be bad calls, might as well have them be made by folks with better things to do!

For a start they could try hiring someone under 65.

Hey G_Man!

It's nice to know someone can respond to a post and/or argue a point without using expletives and allow thier fellow fans an opinion. This appears to be a trend among true Chiefs' fans.

Thank You
John
