Needless to say I would be extremely pissed off if we took Greg Olsen in the first round unless we are trying to trade away TonyG for a couple of first day draft picks like a 1st-2nd rounder etc.

Just re-signed Tony G, so there's no way he's going anywhere.

I would have been on board with the idea of franchising him and then shopping him.

If they take Poszlusny.......well they might aswell just shoot themselves it'll accomplish about the same.

Thankfully I don't think he'll be there when they pick.

Olsen looks like quality player. I think he could become a major impact player for who ever picks him in the upcoming draft.

I respectfully disagree. If they looked at Posluzny and they ended up taking him, that only means they saw what they were looking for.

I personally believe that Posluzny is the type of player that will start on day one and be the starter for ten years. His intangibles are off the charts. He possesses superior instincts and leadership qualities.

No matter what your needs are, if you have the opportunity to take a guy like that and you don't pre-evaluate him before the draft, you just aren't doing your job. If you ultimately decide to take him I'd have to believe it's because you compared him to others that you took a closer look at and determined that you couldn't afford to pass him up.

While I'd much rather see a position of need filled by an equally capable player, I won't be shedding any tears if we take a guy that would probably be our on-field defensive leader for the next decade. Teaming a guy like him with guys like Allen, Hali, DJ, and Page is a recipe for defensive dominance, IMO.

Do you really want to pick Posluzny if he's not going to start for two years?

Posluzny won't be riding the bench for anybody that picks him. That's the point. The guy is a football player. He's a leader. And he's a damn fine linebacker. I'd be very surprised if he wasn't starting for the team that picks him at some point in his rookie season.

That said, most rookies play a backup role for the first couple years. Finding someone to contribute right away (ala, Hali, Allen, DJ) is not the norm. That's why a guy like Posluzny would only enhance the future prospects of our young but promising defense even more.

I thought if they couldn't contribute right away they are automatically considered to be a bust. From reading around here, Croyle is not going to make it, Webb has no chance, and Hannon.... he is only a FA who couldn't break into the starting lineup his first year. We won't even go where his status on the board is.
