This is the name I've heard bandied about over Mike Shula.

Pass happy offense and Herm don't go together.

On one hand, I like the idea of bringing in a young mind (kinda) who knows offenses and likes to open things up.
On the other hand, I don't like the idea of hiring back-to-back coordinators that have never run an NFL offense. Especially when the first one didn't work out. And especially when some notable coordinators (Cameron, Big Al) may be looking for jobs at the same time we're looking to hire. I wish I knew more about UTEP to know if this was a guy worth having. |

At least this guy as experience as an OC, and with QB's. I would much rather a young college OC/QB coach be our new OC than an old Oline coach.

Really interesting. Price was also with Croyle for a spring in Alabama (as his dad's offensive coordinator). So he's got Herm and Brodie connections. I Googled some stuff from around that time and found that the Price-Croyle relationship was very strong:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/ins...abama_insider/ "We go shotgun a lot, we have a lot of quick hot routes," said sophomore quarterback Brodie Croyle, "but also on every route we have a deep ball, and you can take that any point in time you think you have it. There’s always that chance you might score on every play." For Croyle, the former all-everything prep star and son of former Bryant player John Croyle, Price’s hiring couldn’t have been more fortuitous. The Alabama native was once recruited by Washington State, which had him ranked as the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the country, but Price couldn't convince him to visit Pullman. Now Price has come to him. "I never imagined in my wildest dreams that Coach Price would come down here and I would get to play for him," said Croyle, who went 13-of-22 for 260 yards and three touchdowns in Alabama's spring game Saturday. "Nothing against the old staff at all, but the opportunity to throw the ball and make some big plays -- it’s a quarterback’s dream." http://www.cw.ua.edu/home/index.cfm?...7-2bd5458bdeda Quarterback Brodie Croyle said the team was disappointed in Witt's decision, and said many players still stand behind Price. "We feel like this is a big mistake," Croyle said. "I hope and pray we don't play a Mike Price team. He got us further along in four months than any other coach." |

very interesting, thanks for the info...
i like it, someone young and hungry...an OC who isn't pass-phobic is even better.... definitely not a Carl move...maybe Herm is growing damn cojones...

Cam Cameron should be at the top of the list. The guy is great on gameday calling offensive plays.
That said, we don't want to do what it takes to win it all, so look for more of the same next year.

yes, this is the type of experience we need, someone who understands the QB position...not saying this guy is the answer..
