Computers Another Best Buy story.

I went to Best Buy last night, and I picked out the laptop I wanted, picked up the software and wireless mouse I wanted, and then proceded to customer service for the check out. My Best Buy card gets declined....twice. I tell the clerk that I paid it off last week, so she calls the credit card office to see what the problem is. The payment was posted on 9/24/2008. Okay. They don't put the credit back on the card for 12 days. WTF? They payment is posted. It's good. Why wait nearly two weeks to place the credit back onto the account?

Sold it a while ago. The one you might have seen in the bash thread from this year was one from work.

I am looking to get rid of a 4-yr old, never been upgraded tower.

FWIW, Best Buy and the Best Buy credit card company are two entirely different entities.

Another FWIW, the credit card company is awful and not easy to deal with.

never had a problem with the credit card..never really had a problem with best buy until they charged me 70.00 each for two hdmi cables which i found i could get for 10.00..i returned the cables and surround sound anyway so no big deal..

after hearing all these stories im not sure i wanna deal with them anymore

this is common with credit cards. hell, it used to take a billing cycle or more for a refund to fully process.

I love best buy, but any major buy's I go to Nebraska Furniture Mart, hell yes

I just made my first CC payment there, but weird enough its posted on their side, but not out of my acct yet, after 4 days

But says its processing

You'll learn one of these days to stay away from them

They're just like the Wal-Mart myth. Everyone thinks NFM has much lower prices than everyone else, when in reality they normally don't.

I checked around on my tv and it was similiar to other places, i just like the 2 year no interest so i could buy it

here's the trick, you'll save money.

go to BB, find the laptop you want. write the model/name down.

go to newegg.com. buy laptop much cheaper.

I would have to put it on my emergency credit card, and I'm not doing that. I have a Best Buy credit card, and I've usually got 18 months to get it paid off without interest.

just trying to help. best buy really bends you over on price when it comes to well, pretty much anything.

i consider best buy to be my "look and research" place. too much markup for me.

if you really want to buy there and get a deal, make friends w/ someone that works there. you can still buy stuff on the BB credit card, but you'll get a crazy discount.

It's cool. I appreciate the advice, really. The guy was giving me a 10% discount on everything except the computer, and the Rewards Zone helps some, too.

meh...

I can see why you're buying Best Buy because you have the BB CC...but it's still hard for me to pay $300 more for something I can get at newegg...regardless of when I have to pay it off.
