Run for Chiefsplanet President! (A new pastime.)

Okay, I have a little idea that has germinated in my mind and sprouted like that potato that you grew in third grade by poking toothpicks in it and suspending it in a glass of water.

I'd like to have a presidential race on Chiefsplanet.

Not for president of Chiefsplanet, but rather for president of the U.S. What policies and stuff would win over the Chiefsplanet electorate? It'd be way cool if it was actually halfway serious, but if it descends into the junior high middle school realm in which most of us dwell, that'll be entertaining, too.

So here are the rules, and we'll see if anyone is interested.

1. I will be the organizer of the presidential race, as you'll see below. I may seek a few bipartisan volunteers to help me run it.

2. If you would like to declare your candidacy, you may do so by declaring your candidacy in this thread and sending me $500 in casino cash. (This is to ensure that we have serious candidates.) Recall that you can fund-raise by having other people transfer casino dollars to you.

Edit: To pay your casino cash, click on the casino link, scroll to the bottom, and click the "transfer to another player" link.

3. When you declare, you must declare your candidacy for the Democratic Party or the Republican party.

4. We will then hold primaries for each party. I will put out some thread(s) calling for positions on specific (mostly serious) issues, and you must answer the questions as posed. (This will probably require 30 minutes or more of the candidates' time to complete.) It will cost you another $500 in casino cash to have your name on the ballot.

5. We will then hold a debate where I will ask questions that allow you to elaborate on your positions and bash other candidates for their positions. (This will probably take an hour or more of the candidates' time.) The bulk of these questions would be serious policy questions, though you may occasionally get something else thrown in. The price of entry into the debates is another $500 in casino cash.

6. During all of this, we will allow people to run ads in a special "political ads" thread. In this thread, you can share your visions, bash other people, dig up old threads and posts to embarrass your opponents, or post photos of interns that they are sodomizing. This will be the fun part in which all bets are off and there are no rules.

7. During this time, I will provide free polling services so we can watch the race develop.

8. We will have the primary votes, and each side will be narrowed down to one candidate.

9. Those two candidates will then have a chance to revise their position papers, and we will hold another debate. The ads will continue unabated. For the price of $50,000 casino, anyone may enter the race as a maverick third party.

10. This will culminate in a presidential vote between the two candidates. As a bit of a twist, the votes will occur by electoral college, which I'll calculate during the primaries. Essentially, members whose handles start with the letter A will represent one state, B another, C another, and so on. Obviously, the C state will be bigger than the Q state, and I'll provide that information.

11. The winner will get all of the collected casino cash since the president always gets rich in America.

Ideally, this would actually be an interesting and somewhat serious political discussion. We'll see.

Anyone interested?

It probably should go in the DC forum, but I'm hoping we can leave it out here for a couple of days to drum up interest and then move it over.

So if you're interested in running for president, please post below and send me casino cash to register.

Current Candidates:

Democrat:

Badgirl
Direckshun
Joey
Cronus

Republican

SNR
Ultra Peanut
Donger

Voting will be by first name, and the Electoral College is as follows:

A - 21
B - 46
C - 59
D - 34
E - 10
F - 15
G - 16
H - 16
I - 9
J - 32
K - 36

I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party...

But I'll actively follow the debates and the mudslinging.

And I never miss a vote.

The rules for eligibility are as follows:

1. You must be able to pay $500 in casino cash.

2. There are no other rules.
