Ten Things From Today's Game

Ten Things From Today's Game:

10. Many of the folks who sit around me have been scalping their tickets, if they can find a buyer. There's also been a lot of talk about if the Chiefs will try to impose PSLs on season ticket holders between the 30 yard lines downstairs, like the Jets did for their new stadium, after the renovation is done. Since Jackson County owns the stadium, hope they stop the Chiefs from charging PSLs for basic seats. They can charge whatever they want with the luxury suites. PSLs would cut out a lot of long time loyal fans (like yours truly) from keeping their tickets. We don't know where the economy will be in 2010, but doubtful there'll be a lot of folks who will be able to fork up $3,000 a seat for a PSL.

9. Some players who have been getting a chance to play don't look too bad. Rocky Boiman is playing a decent linebacker. He's certainly better than Napoleon Harris was. He looks better than Pat Thomas. Babin played OK for a guy who was out of football, but he's not a quality NFL starter. How the hell did the Texans waste a first round pick on him? Is he their version of Ryan Sims? At least he's not morbidly obese like Sims. Morgan played OK at safety. We still can't stop anybody on third down, regardless of distance.

8. Again, what mystery fantasy world is Herm living in? Half his starters on defense are out, so in the fourth quarter, down by 7, on fourth and one he punts, thinking his defense is going to hold after only forcing two punts all day. They don't hold (of course), Saints run 4 minutes off the clock, make it a 2 possession game. Then he's forced to go for it on 4th and 10 with 2 minutes left and no timeouts. Either he's a total frickin idiot, or he's an evil genius; trying to protect our high draft position. I'm not sure which. All this on top of failing to get a TD twice with First and Goal from the three. You can't expect to beat the #1 offense in the NFL kicking field goals twice when you have first and goal from the three. That's why these guys are 1 and 9.

7. They kept saying on the radio that Pollard was out in the fourth quarter with the flu. That wasn't what was wrong with him. In the 3rd quarter he came out. and a doc was working on his shoulder and collarbone under his pads on the sideline. He was wincing like something was dinged up in his shoulder. I think he's got a bad collarbone or bruised shoulder. He may be yet another starter to add to the injury list. He didn't go back in after that.

6. Alfonso Boone's missed tackle on the screen play was bad, McGraw's miss afterwards was worse. I thought Gunther was going to have a stroke on the sideline. When Colclough (is that how you spell it?) got burned for a TD, all I could think of was, well, yeah, what do you expect? Did this guy win a raffle drawing to start a Chiefs game or something??? He went to Tusculum College...WTF is that??? Where did they find this guy? At least he'll be able to tell his buddies in the Sears Warehouse that he played an NFL game once.

5. It's hard to see any benefit to this alleged "youth movement" now. Dorsey is getting some experience, as is Cottam. But Flowers is out, we're not really developing a QB -unless you think Pigpen is the future- and so many players who need the time are out injured. I just don't see any positive benefit when a team has lost 18 out of their last 19 games. I can't see us being much better next year, or the year after. Too many holes to plug. And since we're $30 mill under the cap, they aren't spending on free agents either. It shows.
Tony G will be our lone All Pro.

4. Tony G is a tough guy. Heart is the difference between someone like Tony G, and someone like Damon Huard. I hope in the off season they trade Tony to an NFC team where he might have a chance at a Super Bowl. To keep him stuck in this dung heap is criminal and unfair to Tony, who's been an ultimate team guy and class act. Think TO or Randy Moss would be as classy as Tony if they played here? No way. I wish for Tony nothing but the best elsewhere.

3. King Carl was cruising along the sidelines before the game. He looks like a greasy used car salesman, or one of the "Waste Management Professionals" on the Sopranos. He needs to go, he's a black cloud hanging over this crap fest. If somebody would have told you the Chiefs would be 1 and 9 after their first ten games, would you ever have guessed the one win would be over Denver? Clark Hunt was there today. It will be interesting to see what he's made of as soon as this year is over. If he does nothing and stands pat, he'll prove he's all about the $ and is as clueless as his dad on how to go about winning a Super Bowl. Next year will be 40 years with no Super Bowl. How long can you expect fans to be patient?

2. Nobody seemed too upset after the loss today. We lead the AFC West in Moral Victories. I think both the team and the fans have come to accept this year as a cluster f**K. They'll just go through the motions the next few weeks. Show up, draw a check, start making travel plans for New Years. We end the season at Cincy, That should be a butt ugly game, with both teams desperately trying to lose to secure a higher draft pick. What's the point?

1. I sold my tickets to the Buffalo game to go to a wedding in St. Louis that weekend. It's the first time I've voluntarily chosen to miss a regular season home game since I've owned season tickets. And honestly, I don't feel too bad about that. I see no reason to care any more this year. Just not worth the emotional investment, starting to question the sanity of the financial investment.

As much as I completely despise Herm Edwards and want him fired with a flame thrower, the game today was lost by not executing in those goal-to-go situations. That was painful.

My observations...

Lots of Hot Sanits chicks dressed like hookers.

Patty Dipardo is the WOrst singer I have ever had the displeasure of hearing.

Arrowhead officials playing Rap Full blast for an hour before the game-does not Help getting the fans geared up. It was soooooo freakin annoying and LOUD!!!!!!

Tailgating seemed boring and dead in the parking lot and even duller in the stadium-but what doe you expect from fans of a losing team.

Coaching and Halftime adjustments were Non existant. A high school caoch could out smart this group.

Dorsey is short fat and kinda slow-but seems to have a big heart-didnt see him take too many breaks.

Tony G simply cannot be covered without holding him EVERY play!!!

The refs stuck it to us on a few calls-but what else is new.

Chiefs fans just LOVE to leave early-many as soon as half way through 3rd quarter-one dumbass was yelling at everyone around him for Not standing up on Offense-then left early 4th. Hope he puked on himself on the way out.

The apathy of the fans-is directly proportioned to an Owner that has let his Father's life work go down the pisser. Worst owner (besides Crazy Al) in the NFL.

Herm is a Dumbass and STILL cannot manage a game. Fire his ass!!!!

Chiefs games are very very very boring sober.

Maybe Gayly thought running it up the middle 30 times would confuse them.

Some of the players share the burden as well, like the dropped passes, especially Bradley's drop on a critical 3rd and 2.

Colquitt has a bad groin, he's been kicking hurt. He was brutal today. He hurt us in field position battle. He may be an all pro someday, but I'd be willing to bet you $10 it won't be this year. Too many better punters in the AFC.

I actually don't blame the coaching staff too much for that -- other than refusing to do a QB sneak on the inch line. Our poor offensive line hurts us down in the red zone. It's like in 2001 when we could move up and down the field, and then **** up in the red zone. With this personnel, we are getting just about all we can all offense.

Overall, today was another demonstration of what rebuilding is supposed to look like. Flashes of good play but not enough to win. The decision to punt was unforgivable, though.

While that sounds good, I'll bet it would produce a lot of touchbacks.
