What did you think of W's address?

I liked the part where he said that we would go after the country that is harbouring these bastards as well as the bastards themselves. I believe that we will, and we will do so with great wrath and furry.

That is all I needed to hear. I wanted hear details of a massive operation already in motion, but now rest on the faith that said operation is in motion and will be remarked upon when appropriate.

I just got back from a church service to pray for our country and I missed W's address. I hope he stated that there is no place on earth that is safe for this scum. The time for inactivity is over; the time for compromise is over. This is war and it is time to eliminate the vermin that perpetrated this.

Old Geezer is not, and will not be, in a forgiving mood.

I liked and agreed with what he had to say, but damn he needs to work on his delivery. He gets that "Elvis Grbac in the headlights" look every time he gets in front of the camera. He's the image and the mouthpiece of the US, both here and abroad, and he needs to come off as strong, confident and capable, especially in a time like this. Not a bad, speech, though, don't get me wrong...

Geez,
he didn't say that in so many words, but that was kinda the drift I got.

Luckily, while W skipped around the US from presidential hidey-hole to hidey-hole, the Vice President remained in Washington, running the country as usual.

I think we can all give thanks for that. :D

I thought he came off as strong, capable and confident. Strong as in we are still here and not going away. Capable as in we can get these bastards. And confident as in we WILL get these bastards, and those that have given them safe haven.

Hader,
wouldn't have felt so confident and comfortable with Slick at the helm

Bush said the United States would retaliate against ``those behind these evil acts,'' and any country that harbors them.

The Vice-President was in several "Hidey-Holes" of his own in and out of the metro Washington DC area.

To imply our President is a coward because he was not a sitting duck is vindictive and vile - especially when we need to pull together more than ever.

Get over your petty differences and back the man as he plans to defend our nation. Start yer bichin when this is over.

I just heard someone on TV say "let loose the dogs of war" on the scum that did this. Yes!!! I was listening to some dick interviewing three different leaders on tv and they all pretty much said the same thing - we've got to respond decisively and brutally. The announcer kept trying to soften the tone, but the others were having nothing to do with it. Maybe we (America) will grow a set of nads from this tragedy.

I back him and thought he speech was fine. I too would like immediate reaction, but know that is probably not prudent or possible. When all the facts are in I think we will act with authority and power. Someone deserves to pay and be stopped from causing further death and pain to the world.

God bless the families that are going through such an unexpected death today.

Jamie, I saw him as bereft of the passion necessary to put fear into the hearts of the bastards who purpetrated this horrid crime. He looked like a politican reading a speech someone wrote for him instead of the leader of the greatest nation on Earth raining fire and brimstone down on our enemies.

This isn't a Slick vs. Duhbya issue, this is an issue of what I wanted to see from my president, and he didn't quite deliver what I hoped for...

Just so this isn't mistaken as a partisan thing (I'm an independent anyway...) I will say that I liked that he addressed the way the country has responded to the tragedy and I like the fact that he addressed countries who may harbor the responsible individuals. He said the right things, I just wanted a speech we'd remember 50 years from now and a rallying cry all America could come together around.

Probably expected too much, in all fairness. ;)

If this is not addressed quickly and desicevly then there will be lots of politicians out of a job come next election. The president's speech was very good. I wish he would have shown a little bit more emotion, though. But, the message was clear and we should all back our leader to the hilt.

There we go -- that's what I'm trying to say.

I have a tendency to be overly...verbose...sometimes so what I'm trying to say isn't always as clear as I'd like it to be...

they said his address wasn't for the "plan of attack"..., but for the comfort and security that we're not going to take this crap.
