Yes there probably are other good candidates for GM. But everybody here is pimping Pioli or Polian. I want to know. Why IYO one would be a better than the other?

(With the presumption that they would want to come to KC)

I honestly no longer care who comes in here as long as they have little to no connection to the Chiefs family. I also will not care as long as they clean house, giving me hope that this franchise really does want to play in the NFL, and not wallow in piss and shit for the next 20 years.

Either one would be a good choice, but I personally would prefer Pioli. He has been in a winning atmosphere and has no previous relationship with this franchise.

I don't think so. I would like Polian as well, but I think he is an unrealistic choice. I'm pretty sure that he is setup to take over for his dad when the time comes in Indy.

I kind of have a feel for what Pioli does for New England, but I have no idea what Polian Jr. does for Indianapolis. What does he do? Is he just a name?

Actually I don't know much about Polian. I am conflicted about Pioli. Usually the members of the Belichik tribe have not fared well without him. With the possible exception of the guy who became Atlanta's GM. But then he HAS been part of a winning ball club. Actually I don't mind Pioli bringing in Cassell. In fact I get a positive vibe about him as our QB next year. Maybe we actually could bring his QB coach too.

Can't go wrong with either, though as mentioned Polian is probably being groomed to succeed his dad in Indy. Pioli finds talent that translates consistently into results on the field. Welker, Moss, Mayo, any of the Pats' RBs... and most importantly, the man helped build an excellent O-line.

You can say wes welker benefits from randy moss taking double teams with him down the field (and you're right, of course) yet Welker undoubtedly has the physical tools and mental smarts to get the job done out of the slot. You can make similar judgements looking at other patriots players, and the fact is, Scott Pioli knows good, WINNING NFL talent when he sees it. Which, for the Chiefs, has got to be a novel idea if nothing else.

Polian is amazing, and is my ideal candidate. I want the Chiefs to mimick the Colts' organization style of functioning 99% through the Draft and stuffing over 90% of their roster with "pure" players who've never played anywhere else. Polian is the engineer of that. He's my choice in a perfect world.

Pioli is a solid choice because he's a shrewd talent evaluator, but let's be honest: the Pats are as successful as they are because they lucked out on a 6th round Hall of Famer and another Hall of Fame receiver by trading a 4th rounder.
