Despite the economic crisis and the ongoing push for environmental friendliness, man continues to push the boundaries of on-road performance. It wasn’t that long ago that a 500 horsepower car was considered top notch, but over the past few years this magic number has become commonplace and downright affordable - Ford’s Shelby GT500 for instance, retails for less than $55,000. Nowadays, the bar has been raised to 1,000 horsepower. But vehicles with four-figure horsepower ratings aren’t as uncommon as you might think. Meet fifteen official members of the 1,000 horsepower club by watching the slideshow.
