Brian Orakpo at the combine

Is he going to have the greatest numbers in the history of the combine? How does he stack up against Gholston as a "workout warrior"?

The guy is a freak in the weight room from what I have seen/heard. I am more concerned with him basically getting owned in the bowl game though. Just like Pioli said in his presser, I am interested in what the guy has and will do on a football field as opposed to the combine.

Exactly.

He was owned by a guy that projects as a developmental RT - who's probably going to be picked in the late rounds.

Boone just got busted for booze, resisting arrest, and other goodies this weekend. Given his previous probs with alcohol, he probably won't even be drafted.

Sweet, we don't even need to waste a pick on a RT. JK. Seriously though, is there any chance he could start on the right side his rookie season?

Yeah, I saw that right after I posted.

Dude was jumping up and down on a car, swinging a chain and trying to break a window - while resisting arrest - and got himself tazered.

****ing genius.

I think Orakpo's speed numbers are going to disappoint at the combine. He just doesn't look nimble or fleet enough to get a good time on the 3 cone or 40.

What a loser. Hope he does jail time. Doesn't even deserve a look. Was not that good in college and is, apparently, a major headcase.

Sure, just take all the bad parts of Victor Riley and LJ, and combine them with none of the upside, and you have Alex Boone.

I was suprised to see him act a fool out there is Cali, but I have talked with him, he is a pretty level headed guy. Maybe the big night life out there is Cali got to him, the night life in the Big CO isn't much to brag about. To say he has no upside is silly, the guy is 6'8 330 lbs and started at LT for a major College team for 4 years. At RT I think he would be very good, he is very athletic, just not enough for LT at the next level, he is also a mauler, he finishes plays. He has no problem moving in space, I think he would be better than anyone we have at RT now. What a stupid way to really shoot yourself in the foot, right before the combine too.

Uh, he's an alcoholic with no upside. If you can't stay clean, you can't play.

Mel Kiper Jr. might be more interested in his 40-time or his bench press repetitions, but I have a hunch that Deadspin readers may be more interested in this statistic about Ohio State tackle Alex Boone: He used to drink 30 to 40 beers a day.

Now, if this was the case for a player on my favorite school, I'd be describing this as "awesome." But since it's Ohio State, I'm a little more likely to go with adjectives like "alarming" and "sad." If you drink a case of beer in a day, you're doing some serious drinking. But to push that number up to 40, and do it day after day... that's staggering. Exactly how many times a day did this guy piss?

The good news (or bad news, I suppose, if you're a beer distributor in Columbus) is that Boone has stopped drinking. He quit cold turkey, in fact. Thanks to his friend and teammate Todd Denlinger, Boone now prefers Bible discussions, mini-golf, and taking walks with Denlinger to drinking himself silly every day of his life. (OTW58 Note: O RLY? Quit drinking, eh?)
Dude had a BAC of at LEAST .24 - or THREE times the legal limit...

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content...T.html?sid=101

Quote:
The mother of Ohio State offensive tackle Alex Boone said yesterday that her son "has a problem that needs addressed" after Boone was arrested late Sunday following a drunken outburst in Aliso Viejo, Calif.

Amy Boone said she had talked with Alex several times yesterday, "and he's hurting. He feels terrible that he let so many people down," she said.

"What do you do? You tell him you love him and support him and that we'll go after this (problem) like we need to."

Last night, Alex Boone posted bond and was released from a jail in Santa Ana.

According to Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino, police responded to a call of a man yelling and jumping on cars outside an apartment building. Amy Boone said it was the building Alex is living in while he's training for the NFL draft.

"He wasn't driving. He didn't hurt anybody," she said.

When police arrived, Boone tried to flee, Amormino said. Because he appeared to be heavily intoxicated, police transported him to Saddleback Hospital. There, Boone yelled and cursed at nurses, Amormino said.

Boone then was taken to jail but remained so uncooperative that the booking process could not be completed.

Tasers were used several times to subdue Boone.

He has been charged with resisting arrest and obstructing police. Amormino said Boone could face more charges related to public drunkenness and/or related to damage to the cars. Prosecutors have not yet handled the case.

Amormino said Boone's blood-alcohol level was at least three times the legal limit for drivers, which is 0.08 percent, just as it is in Ohio. Boone is 6 feet, 8 inches and 312 pounds.

OSU coach Jim Tressel was disappointed by the news.

"Alex headed to California to focus solely on his training," he said. "It is so disappointing to hear that he had this mishap. His intentions were to prepare for his NFL dream."

This is not Boone's first alcohol-related incident. In April 2006, after his freshman season at OSU, he was charged with drunken driving after being involved in a two-car accident in Columbus. His blood-alcohol level at the time was 0.159. He pleaded no contest, was fined $300 and got a 10-day suspended jail sentence.

Heading into preseason camp that fall, Boone talked about having a problem with binge drinking but said he had quit drinking. Last fall, he told The Dispatch that since he turned 21 in May, he has had an occasional drink.

"It's not like what it used to be, I can tell you that right now," Boone said. "It might be every once in a blue moon, I'm out with the guys having fun or something."

Amy Boone said Alex had done well since his 2006 arrest.

"It's been quiet, not too many issues and problems with it," she said. "I just think he's been under a tremendous amount of pressure lately, and this is the first time he's been out (in California). Apparently, he got a little carried away."

A native of Lakewood, Ohio, Boone played four seasons for the Buckeyes, from 2005 through 2008, starting at left tackle for the majority of his career. He was named first team All-Big Ten last season.

He has been working out at Velocity Sports Performance, a training center in Orange, Calif., since mid-January. Boone is projected as a mid-round NFL draft pick. (OTW58 Note: Not anymore...)
Sounds like someone that used to play for KC...
