Best corner prospect in 2009 NFL Draft

... lasted until Round 6.

If you have a chance to watch the first half of the Vikes-Texans, do so. Brice McCain is 41 for the Texans. As with his start against KC, Brice did not allow a completion. Several times in man coverage outside, Favre looks and gives McCain the ultimate compliment (he decided not to throw it). There is a fade pass to the corner of the end zone to Percy Harvin in Q2. Watch that closely. In real time, it looked like McCain was close but it was an absolutely perfect throw that just went off Percy's fingers. The replay shows McCain with a tiny bit of jersey by the waist, which prevented the TD. A DB cannot stop a perfectly thrown fade to the corner of the endzone, he can rather just cover tight and force a perfect throw. Or, the DB can decide to give a tiny tug and watch in wonder how the throw was just a little too far and off the fingers. The only other throw at McCain was a deep go-route where McCain is actually in a better position to catch the ball than the WR, but the Texan safety is in the way of McCain's attempt at a pick.

All total, no separation by Harvin or anyone else, no completions allowed, a "big hit" that got the announcers blabbering, and "the only way possible" to stop a corner of the end zone perfectly thrown fade - a small tug by the waist that was really impossible to see in real time - noooo replays for that one.

So, how did the best CB in the Draft fall to round 6?? How did Darryl Harris become a "tryout player?" Why did the best C prospect, Edwin Williams, go undrafted?

Dude, just cause you picked him in your fuqin draft last season does NOT mean he was the best in the draft. He wasn't even the best at Utah IMO.
"Best in the draft". What a douche.

Ah yes, nothing like getting parrots ruffled in the morning...

Now, try and learn something. Watch the replay of the game, and ditch the beak and feathers.

MORON, Ryan O'Halloran is a Washington Times writer with about as much understanding of football as you (ie ZERO). Edwin Williams has not been cut. He likely won't be cut. If he is cut, he would be a huge addition to a team without a decent C on the roster... and that is the point of identifying him here.

Yeah, no other schools schedule cupcakes. Florida has played more top-10 and ranked teams than any other top program in the country over the last 10 years.

And, FYI, Florida tried to schedule Utah as an OOC game this year but the two schools couldn't agree to terms.

"E) Use a 9th OL slot for Edwin Williams.

This may seem like strange thought, especially since he is a younger clone of Will Montgomery (a backup Center who also might be a decent backup Guard) and does not get that much press. But it is actually one of my two preferred options, along with (A) above. Joe Bugel blows a lot of sunshine about the young guys he trains, and it's hard to separate the true compliments from the hype. But my impression is that he really does think Edwin Williams is an especially good prospect, not only as a Center but also as a Guard. If so, then Buges has a good case for asking for and getting a roster slot for him. Last season our best young, not-yet-ready-to-play prospect was Andrew Crummey. We tried to stash him on the Practice Squad, and lost him as a result. That loss may provide the ammunition for Bugel to get an inactive roster slot for Edwin Williams this year."

TFG spin - Bugel loves Edwin Williams and knows that Edwin is the future of the Skins C position. Edwin is playing OG during the preseason because they aren't ready to part with Rabach yet, and the gameday active interiors must play C and OG, not just one. Will Montgomery is nothing special. Edwin Williams is. Excellent dilemma for the Skins...
