Again, with another damn question....

So, our new website works on google apps, etc. The designer wants us to use the google calendar feature, which is fine.

Here's our deal. The secretary does the main calendar for the newsletter in word. In order for a calendar to be exported to the google calendar, it needs the file in csv or ical. Which is easy to convert an outlook calendar to csv and then export it to google. But because she does it in word and word won't convert the file to either of these files, I thought, well, let's convert the file to a PDF.

Here's the deal....is there any way to convert a pdf to a csv? I've worked with it a few times and am not getting anywhere, maybe you all have a secret?!

Thanks!!!

Could you export the Word table to Excel and then save it as CSV?

That would be easier.

I'm no expert on the matter, but csv is comma separated value (IIRC) and it is basically a text file that has the data separated by commas instead of table formatting to sace space.

PDF is an image file. I think it would be tough to convert PDF into csv.

Excel is easier though, because each cell becomes a value that can be separated by a comma.

Again take my info with a grain of salt. I'm kind of a reerun.

No, you're pretty much spot-on.

I'm not sure how to do this...I've been toying with it and can't seem to find the right button to push.

(get your mind out of the gutter)

IIRC, if it is in a word table, you should be able to copy/paste it into excel and then Save As and csv is one of the file types you can choose.

Try highlighting the table in Word and copying it.

Then go into Excel and do a "Paste Special" see if you can do it that way.

csv file types does not seem to be an option....? Unless it would be worded a different way?

Sorry, Calendar is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in a few minutes. If the problem persists, visit the Help Center.

This is the message I'm getting from the google calendar after trying to import the csv calendar? It worked earlier?

Sorry Jilly, I know nothing about google calendar. The only thing I can think of is to make sure it is saved as csv and make sure you closed out of it prior to uploading it. I'd call their support.

GOod luck!

GRRrrrr...I feel like I've gotten this far!!! It's not like she can't just enter the information twice, it just seems like I could save her the work if I get this figured out.

If the text within the calendar contained commas, wouldn't that be a problem?
