Anyway, I think this is an outstanding hire for KU. He's a good coach of outstanding character, and is bringing in outstanding coordinators in Chuck Long and Carl Torbush.

If you are a KU fan, you should be excited. Not only will Gill build a respectable program, but he's going to recruit well. He's going to pull kids from Texas and MU.

Funny thing is Chuck Long is one of the reasons Mangino was forced out at OU and took the KU job.

While at OU Chuck Long was one of the hottest prospects in coaching. He used that to force Mangino out of OU and he took the KU job. Chuck then went on to get several interviews and finally got the SDSU job. I think Chuck is huge in this new coaching staff. Knows the big 12 and is a good football mind.

Already has proven that at Nebraska. Helped recruit and develop Tommy Frazier and Eric Crouch. While he was there he was seen as an outstanding recruiter. Also, has done some good recruiting with Buffalo for it being the dormant program it is.

Maybe there are things you can knock on him for but I don't think recruiting should be a major one.

Had a good track record in recruiting while at Nebraska. Hell, he's gotta be decent...he ressurrected Buffalo from the dead, including getting 9-10 Texas recruits to come to New York. Not too bad...
