CLARK NAMED STRENGTH COACH, MacCRACKEN HIRED AS DIR. OF FB ADMINISTRATION

a a The Kansas City Chiefs named Mike Clark as the club’s strength and conditioning coach on Thursday. The club also hired Trip MacCracken as the team’s Director of Football Administration.


Clark joins the Chiefs after serving in that same capacity for six seasons with Seattle (2004-09). He was part of Mike Holmgren’s staff that helped guide the Seahawks to a berth in Super Bowl XL. Clark served 14 seasons as the head strength and conditioning coach at Texas A&M (’90-03) before entering the NFL ranks. A 2003 inductee into the USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame, he served as president of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association in 2000.

The Wichita, Kansas native also enjoyed stints as the head strength and conditioning coach at Southern California (’88-89), Oregon (’83-87), Kansas (’82) and Wyoming (’81). He spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Topeka High School in Topeka, Kansas (’79-80) after beginning his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Kansas (’77-78). He graduated from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas, where he played center on the football squad.


MacCracken arrives in Kansas City after spending 11 seasons with Cleveland (’99-09), where his duties included contract negotiations, as well as other responsibilities in football operations. During his tenure with the Browns, he served as Legal Counsel (2009), Director of Football Administration (2006-08), Salary Cap Coordinator (2001, 2003-05) and Salary Cap Administrator (’99-00, 2002).

Prior to joining the Browns, MacCracken served an internship at the NFL Management Council in ’98. He earned a degree from the Duke University School of Law in ’99 after graduating Cum Laude from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York in ’96. During the fall of ’94, the Hudson, Ohio native interned at the White House and worked for the Washington Redskins on game days. MacCracken captained the football and baseball teams as a prep at Hawken School in Gates Mills, Ohio
