we'd better get more than that for trading down once, let alone twice.

If we trade down in the first round I would hope like hell we get another 2nd round pick!
3rd's and 4th's don't cut it. ![]()

We could get Clevelands #72 pick (230 pts), but we'd have to give up pick #145 (33.5 pts). I should have prefaced this by saying that I don't think the picks they would have to give up would prevent them from making the trade. If Cleveland doesn't want to give up the 3rd rounder, but the point total is there, why not make the trade? Seriously though, if you are Pioli and you know that Williams is the guy you want, why take him higher than you need to if you can trade down and still get him? Forget the picks for a minute and just think about it. Why pay him more than you need to. Now with the picks, if you want to trade down and Cleveland doesn't want to give up their 3rd rounder, why wouldn't you just take what you can get if the points even out? |

Okay, its a Saturday and I'm bored. A while back the thought occurred to me (hell someone probably posted it here) that there is a slim chance that we could trade down twice inside the top 10. Since I think we're going after Dan Williams, I thought I'd chart it out and see what we'd net in picks. And of course, I then had to mock it up using the CBS Player ranking for approximate available players.
![]() A million to one. So you're saying there's a chance??? Quality > Quantity anyway |

I don't really like spending the top four picks entirely on defense.

I am 100% certain you can find a better pick than Carlos Dunlap, and I am just as certain that you can find a better player to play OLB for a 3-4 at that pick. That is a waste.

There is a 200 point difference between pick 5 & 7 and a 150 point difference between pick 7 & 9. Cleveland's 2nd is worth 520 points and Buffalo's is worth 490. Don't see how you could convince them to make that trade. That's not to say you couldn't use a few of the picks you just got to trade back up into the late second round, but I figured my post was confusing enough as it is. The 16th pick in the 2nd round is worth 420 points. If we were trading up we'd just about have to give up all of our picks to get there. 3rd #69/245 points 4th #103/88 points 5a #137/37.5 points 5b #143/34.5 points 5c #145/33.5 points Total 438.5 points. |

This year especially, because of the talent coming out and all the holes on this team that we need fill help to play asap we need quality guys in the 1st and 2nd rounds, imo.

Clevelands picks: #7 1500 pts, #38 520 pts. Total 2020 points KC pick: #5 1700 pts There's a 320 point differential there. Feel free to package any of our picks with it to make it work. It would take our 3rd to get their 2nd. #69 = 245 pts #103 = 88 pts #137 = 37.5 #143 = 34.5 #145 = 33.5 |

I know it wasn't during the draft but how many people were surprised by Cassel and Vrabel for just a 2nd rounder? What the Boys gave for Roy Williams? And on and on..... I realize it's players not picks so you can't use your trusty ol' chart there. But if you read through all the trades that took place just last year you find yourself going wow! I didn't remember that! Check it out. http://www.prosportstransactions.com...rades/2009.htm
