Sac's February NFL Mock - Four Rounds

Four rounder based on best available talent at positions of need. (Chiefs fourth rounder was a bit of a homer pick, but I really think that Taylor will be jumping up the charts when he kills it at the combine along with his NFLPA game/practices where he basically threw around anyone in front of him.)

So, this is how it should look like come draft day:

1. Carolina Panthers
- Patrick Peterson, CB; LSU
- A very rare talent at the corner position. Has every tool and intangible with amazing football instincts. A Calvin Johnson/Ndamukong Suh type of prospect. Has gone against the best WR’s in this draft (Green and Jones) and locked them down. Strong (purportedly squats over 500 lbs.), with a 40” vertical and 4.35 speed. You don’t pass on that type of guy.

2. Denver Broncos
- DaQuan Bowers, DE; Clemson
- Has the potential to be a dominating 4-3 left defensive end in the Julius Peppers mold. Will immediately upgrade both the run and pass defense of the Broncos.

3. Buffalo Bills
- Von Miller, LB; Texas A&M
- The Bills loaded up on the DL in the 2010 draft, but need a strong pass rush presence at the ROLB spot. Miller is the best that this draft class has to offer and has an elite first step and pursuit ability. You don’t find that very often and with Williams and Co. plugging the middle, he’s going to be an absolute terror off the edge for the Bills and new linebacker coach Dave Wannstedt.

4. Cincinatti Bengals
- Nick Fairley, DT; Auburn
- Fairley is coming off an amazing 2010 season and would immediately upgrade the Bengals defensive front.

5. Arizona Cardinals
- Blaine Gabbert, QB; Missouri
- While the initial depression of having Miller and Bowers off the board stings a bit, there is a little silver lining in the fact that the Cards get a shot at Gabbert. While it might be a bit of a reach, Gabbert has all the tools to project into a franchise level quarterback. It isn’t a secret that the Cards are looking for a QB. They get one right here.

6. Cleveland Browns
- A.J. Green, WR; Georgia
- The Browns luck into a phenom level talent in Green. It’s also a position that they could stand an upgrade at. They’ve got the offensive line and running back set and McCoy looks like their guy at the QB spot. They need weapons on the outside to make this a really nice looking, young offensive team. Green is a helluva weapon to have.

7. San Francisco 49ers
- Prince Amukamara, CB; Nebraska
- The Niners desperately need to upgrade their pass defense and Amukamara is a very talented cornerback prospect.

8. Tennessee Titans
- Robert Quinn, DE; North Carolina
- With the likely departure of Jason Babin, the Titans will need to find a pass rusher sooner rather than later. Quinn has the size and speed to be a potential beast in a 4-3 defense as a defensive end.

9. Dallas Cowboys
- Cameron Jordan, DE; California
- The Cowboys defensive ends, in entirety, managed to accumulate an abysmal 2.5 sacks for the entire season. Jordan was dominating in 2010 and is coming off a Senior Bowl where he was basically a man amongst boys.

10. Washington Redskins
- Julio Jones, WR; Alabama
- Santana Moss is an unrestricted free agent and the Skins won’t pursue a new contract with him. Shanahan has a hard-on for big receivers and Jones has all the tools to be very effective in this offense.

11. Houston Texans
- Marcell Dareus, DT/DE; Alabama
- The Texans are moving to a 3-4 scheme and will need a guy that can man the five tech spot. Dareus played that position for the Tide and will help the Texans transition into their new defensive alignment.

12. Minnesota Vikings
- Cam Newton, QB; Auburn
- The Vikings have made no secrets about looking to find a quarterback in this draft and Newton is fresh off his National Championship and Heisman season. His big arm, huge frame and amazing physical skills are too much to pass on here.

13. Detroit Lions
- Nate Solder, OT; Colorado
- Linebacker Zach Follett just described his quarterback as a “china doll,” but it’s really hard to stay healthy when 290 lbs. defensive lineman are crushing you with regularity. All three of Detroit’s quarterbacks ended up on the IR this past season due to getting hammered because of horrible pass protection. The Lions need to take the best offensive lineman in this draft and Solder looks to be it at this point.

14. St. Louis Rams
- Mike Pouncey, OG; Florida
- With the two top receivers off the board and no outside linebacker worth a mid-first round pick, the Rams look to bolster their offensive line with Pouncey. He’s a pure guard and it might be a little high, but he showed all the athleticism and power for the Gators in 2010 that propelled his twin brother to a Pro Bowl in his rookie season.

15. Miami Dolphins
- Mark Ingram, RB; Alabama
- Williams is in his mid-30’s and Ronnie Brown wasn’t really effective in 2010. Ingram is a similar type/style runner to these guys and has superb field vision.

16. Jacksonville Jaguars
- Gabe Carimi, OT; Wisconsin
- Jordan “I-65” Black was just handed his walking papers and a quality replacement needs to be found. Carimi was the 2010 Outland Trophy winner and would be an immediate upgrade at RT. In all honesty, this team’s roster has more holes than a 250 lb. round of swiss cheese and could stand upgrades at a number of positions.

17. New England Patriots
- Anthony Costanzo, OT; Boston College
- Tom Brady was hammered by the Jets in their playoff game. Upgrading the position is necessary, especially with Logan Mankins as a potential free agent who had that long, nasty holdout to start the 2010 season. If he leaves, Light would slide over to LG creating a need for a player like Costanzo.

18. San Diego Chargers
- Akeem Ayers, LB; UCLA
- Larry English hasn’t progressed in the Chargers system creating a talent void at the LB spot. Ayers is a prototypical 3-4 OLB with a lot of athleticism.

19. New York Giants
- Derrick Sherrod, OT; Mississippi State
- Smart and experienced, Sherrod would be able to play either tackle slot for the Giants, who could stand an upgrade at either.

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Ryan Kerrigan, DE; Purdue
- Kerrigan is coming off an All-American season where he accumulated 26 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks. Great first step and good pass rush moves. Never stops on a play and goes through the whistle.

21. Kansas City Chiefs
- Aldon Smith, OLB; Missouri
- Smith is raw as sushi, but his athletic ability is off the charts. Excellent size and a high motor, Crennel will make this kid a force sooner rather than later.

22. Indianapolis Colts
- Corey Liuget, DT; Illinois
- While Mathis and Freeney were, once again, very good on the edges, the Colts interior defensive line was porous at best. Liuget is versatile and can play either tackle spot in a 4-3.

23. Philadelphia Eagles
- Danny Watkins, OT; Baylor
- Waktins is a massive right tackle that drove people all over the Senior Bowl practice field. Fits the mold of a Andy Reid offensive lineman and would fill the void at the right tackle spot for the Eagles.

24. New Orleans Saints
- Cameron Heyward, DT/DE; Ohio State
- The versatile Heyward can play numerous positions along the defensive front and would give the Saints a legitimate run stopper in their front four.

25. Seattle Seahawks
- Jake Locker, QB; Washington
- A former potential #1 overall pick, his numbers for his senior season weren’t overly impressive due to a real lack of talent around him. Extremely athletic with a big arm, he’s a legit franchise level quarterback that Seattle lands on the cheap. Has a lot of the same tools as current Packers QB Aaron Rogers.

26. Baltimore Ravens
- Brandon Harris, CB; Miami
- If the Ravens defense had a weak spot, it was definitely their cornerback position. Teams routinely took advantage of them there. Harris is a talented and athletic player.

27. Atlanta Falcons
- Greg Jones, LB; Michigan State
- It’s going to come down to who the Falcons think will need replacing first between Mike Peterson and Tony Gonzalez. Gonzalez still looked solid this past season while Peterson looked like he’s lost a step. Jones is the best 4-3 linebacker in this draft.

28. New England Patriots
- J.J. Watt, DE; Wisconsin
- Watt is a prototype for a five tech 3-4 defensive end. Big and strong, he’s a gap plugging, run stuffer.

29. Chicago Bears
- Tyron Smith, OT; USC
- Smith might be a little light in the pants at this point, but he’s got a lot of room to grow and might end up the best offensive linemen out of his draft class when everything is said and done. The Bears offensive tackles couldn’t block a bunny rabbit in 2010 and were responsible for their teams demise in the playoffs.

30. New York Jets
- Justin Houston, OLB; Georgia
- The Jets need an upgrade at the OLB spot and Houston was a beast in 2010 with 18.5 tackles for loss and ten sacks.

31. Pittsburgh Steelers
- Jimmy Smith, CB; Colorado
- One thing that came out of the Super Bowl was that the Steelers cornerbacks were suspect. If the Green Bay receivers hadn’t drop so many passes, the final score might have been pretty lopsided. Smith is a big, smart corner that has a passion for the game.

32. Green Bay Packers
- Adrian Clayborn, DE; Iowa
- Clayborn is stout against the run and looks to be a solid 3-4 five tech at the next level.

I'm not a fan of Taylor as of now, but that could change. Also, I would just be satisfied with us drafting at those specific positions of need, instead of trying to get role players like last year. Good draft.

a couple of good FA moves will really set us up, and radically affect how we prioritize positions in the draft...

and even though we drafted heavy defense in the first round, we're close to having a stud defense...plug the holes at NT and LB and we could have a top 10 defense for several years...
