Draft Planet / Walter Football Mock Draft

Now that the season is over and draft speculation has already begun (since September maybe?!), can we get Draft Planet back?

Here is the latest Walter Football mock going back from last week. We are still at #10 but you can get an idea of the players going at which draft slots.

http://walterfootball.com/draft2012.php

10. Kansas City Chiefs: Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford

Right tackle Barry Richardson is a sieve in pass protection. Jared Gaither was foolishly waived (typical dumb Todd Haley move), so Kansas City will be looking for an upgrade at the position.

This is an easy pick because Jonathan Martin is one of the top three players available (Quinton Coples, Luke Kuechly). Neither Coples nor Kuechly make sense, so it looks like Martin will be the favorite here unless the Chiefs really want to reach for a quarterback.

11. Buffalo Bills: Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina

The Bills want to play a 3-4, but they don't have the personnel to do it. They may stick with the 4-3 if they can land a blue-chip defensive end like Quinton Coples, however.

Coples is a great deal at No. 11 because he is arguably the seventh-best prospect on the board in the 2012 NFL Draft.

This really is a no-brainer because Buffalo is in desperate need of a pass-rusher. The team has struggled to get to the quarterback all year, as no one on the team has more than 5.5 sacks this season.

12. Arizona Cardinals: Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College

The Cardinals thought they shored up their inside linebacker position when they signed Stewart Bradley to a 5-year, $25 million contract with $10 million guaranteed this offseason.

Yeah, not so much. Bradley has barely played, so he will be a cap casualty this offseason. Arizona's search for a worthy player next to Daryl Washington will end here with Luke Kuechly, who is a no-brainer as the top available talent on the board.

Also, a 1/4/12 update. First two round are alright. Take a looksie though, he has some good players going later than expected, also, don't think I saw Matt Reynolds in the top 3 rounds.

11. Kansas City Chiefs: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
Jamaal Charles will be back next year, but the Chiefs have never been convinced that he can carry the load. That's even a more unreasonable expectation in 2012 given that he's coming off a torn ACL.

Trent Richardson is by far the top player available. He would give Kansas City the top one-two punch at running back in the NFL.

Pick change; previously Jonathan Martin, OT

44. Kansas City Chiefs: Brandon Washington, G/OT, Miami
Right tackle Barry Richardson is a sieve in pass protection. Jared Gaither was foolishly waived (typical dumb Todd Haley move), so Kansas City will be looking for an upgrade at the position.

Pick change; previously Alameda Ta'amu, NT

75. Kansas City Chiefs: Trumaine Johnson, CB, Montana
A team can never have enough talented cornerbacks. Besides, the Chiefs will need help if they aren't able to re-sign Brandon Carr.

Pick change; previously Bernard Pierce, RB

Again, take a look for yourself. There is definitely better talent on the board for both our 2nd and 3rd round picks. Wonder why he went with Washington for us over Osemele?

Trent Richardson is boss, but I am 1,000,000,000% against drafting any RB in the 1st round. RBs are commodities and you can get one late or as an UDFA.

The last position Denver needs is a WR. We need a corner, a safety, a MLB, and a DT waaaaay before we need a WR. We are set at WR with Decker and DT but we could use a speedy slot guy.

I agree that Dungver has many many needs, but I am thrilled you think you're set at WR with those two bums.

normally i would agree, and you are correct...but its all situational. We need RB depth, and since we cant or wont trade up for a QB, take the BPA.

Iowa's Riley Reiff declared for the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if Pioli continues his Kirk Ferentz love affair and drafts an Iowa boy early at a position of need.
