2015 NFL Combine
List of invitees:
http://www.nflcombine.net/players/official-invite-list Biggest snubs: Shaq Mason, OG; Georgia Tech - Really solid player. Nasty. Xavier Williams, DT; Northern Iowa - Was a complete force on the field at the Shrine game. Cam Thomas, DB; Western Kentucky - Would have thought that the pro dudes would have loved to get a look at this guy compared to the other CBs. Sam Carter, S; TCU - Prototype size, very good senior year (55 tackles, 4 ints) However, the biggest snubs of all were at the LB position where a shit ton of very, very, very good Middle/Inside linebackers did NOT get invites to the NFL combine including this quad pack of guys who the Chiefs should be looking at: Zach Vigil, LB; Utah State: 6'2", 240 lb. - For reals? Are you ****ing high? 154 tackles! 9 sacks! 19.5 tackles for loss! Statistically, he had the best year of any linebacker in college football. He's prototype in size. Had an excellent week at the Shrine game showing speed, instinct and power. Absolutely ****ing reeruned not having this guy at the Combine. Jeff Luc, LB; Cincinatti: 6'1", 261 lb. - When does a Senior Bowl player with his stats (134 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 10 tfl - I mean WTF?!?!?!) not get a Combine invite?! Dude is a complete physical freak. I mean, really, those are Butkus Award winner level stats and the guy doesn't get a Combine invite? WTF?! Terrance Plummer, LB; Central Florida: 6'1", 242 lb. - 97 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 6 passes defended, 2 fumbles forced. Played all over the field for the Knights. Senior Bowl. What else do you have to do to get a combine invite? A.J. Tarpley, LB; Stanford: 6'2", 241 lb. - 84 tackles, 4.5 tfl, 2 sacks. Really a solid player on one of the best defenses in the country. |

Wondering what are the numbers, when it comes to players that get drafted but were not invited to the combine?

Sometimes a guy should clearly be invited and is jot for some reason but still gets picked high. For example, Brandon Brooks in 2012 was not invited despite completely dominating the Shrine game. He ended up having a private workout with only a few teams including the Steelers. He ended up being drafted by the Texans in the third round before Pitt had a shot at him there. He was noted by Pro Football Focus (who certainly has a lot of flaws) as the best lineman on the 5th (or was it fourth) rated OL this year. When obvious guys are left out, it really makes me think there is a reason rather than an oversight. |
