Netflix- Rich Hill

Just watch a documentary on Rich Hill, Missouri on Netflix. Tells the stories about three young male teenagers and their troubled family life. Has anyone seen this documentary or been to Rich Hill? Is Rich Hill a ****ing ghost town?

Lol no, my step dad is from there. Fairly popular small size town right off the highway.

They have an eatery called Swopes, used to be amazing.. Now costs a lot for what you get. Stop there on the way to the lakehouse.

Heartbreaking film, especially for those of us that grew up not too far from there.

I thought the first kid, (Austin I think?), was a very like able kid in the film. Very thankful for the little things he had and blamed no one for the shit hand he was dealt. I was kind of indifferent of the other two but acknowledge that they have had shitty lives. Appachey has no hope with that type of mom and Harley was supposedly raped by his step-father. Very eye opening film.

So what was the point of the documentary? While alternating through the daily lives of these poor kids, thay kept cutting to a scene of an auction in Rich Hill where people were paying over $3000 for a pie. It's like they were trying to insinuate something.

Yeah, with his work ethic and interest in sports, you get the impression that he has the chance to break out of poverty if he was just able to stay in one place.

I don't think they were trying to insinuate anything. I think it was just "here's a slice of life that most people don't know about". The pie auction was juxtaposition between the typical small town life that most people imagine and the life of poverty that also exists in those towns.

I could have shot a similar film in my hometown years ago.

Just starting watching it. Sad that so many kids get dealt such a crappy hand to start life
