Renaming the Chiefs: Round 2, Heat 1

From here on out, it's head to head matchups. Two names enter, one name leaves. I've got the top 32 candidates from Round 1 seeded based on their initial scoring.

I'll present them in sets of four heats. Vote for ONE name from EACH pair.

I went with...

Wolves over United. I'm not wild about the Wolves name, but it's better than United.

Stampede over Raging Storm. Stampede is a great name. I think Raging Storm is too complicated.

Comets over Arrowheads. Comets is a great name. Arrowheads isn't bad, but I like astronomy.

Ermines over Commanders. Ermines would be best for a team that's further north, and I like Commanders in concept. However, I'll start applying my rule of not having human mascots. Is Commanders a man? A woman? White? Japanese? Did the commander kill someone at some point? Let's keep it easy and go with the deadly weasel.

Stampede sounds like a CFL team most likely because it is, so I can't vote for that.

I haven't been following these much because I hope it never comes to that but are there any old KC players nicknames that would fit a team name as well?

If it holds on, it'll be the most shocking upset of the tournament.

However, I'm also watching the Arrowheads-Comets matchup closely. I figured Comets would win pretty handily.

I once watched a video of an ermine-like mustelid hunting a rabbit. To give credit, it did kill the rabbit but it took like 10 minutes to do so. Rabbits are like nature’s potato chip. I feel like they just get destroyed by every carnivore. Outside of some ungulates, I can’t really think of a more pathetic herbivore.

So that kind of kills Ermines for me.

But hey, the rabbit was probably bigger. I bet it takes a lion ten minutes to kill a giraffe. Ermines are ferocious.

Should have made it public so we can mock the people who didn’t vote for ermines.

Once identified, they will face the full wrath of ermine vengeance. They will pray that it only lasts ten minutes, but it won't.
