Many if not most of you may have never have heard of him but during the 60s he was all over the news. Jewel thief and the best surfer on the East coast. Opened up the first surf shop in Florida.

"Asked by the Palm Beach Post in 2006 whether he had committed all the crimes he was charged with, Mr. Murphy said, “Most of them, and a whole lot more.”

There was a 1975 movie based on a true story, details the daring 1964 theft of the J.P. Morgan jewel collection from New York's American Museum of Natural History. Called "The Greatest Jewel Heist of the 20th Century", the robbers took twenty-two precious gems, including the Star of India, the 100.32-carat de Long Ruby and the 16.25-carat Eagle Diamond, stones so famous they would be impossible to sell.

The movie was so so but entertaining with Robert Conrad and Donna Mills. He led a interesting life and should deserve a better movie of his life.
