Way different type of athleticism. NFL defensive linemen would leave those dudes in their tracks wondering WTF just happened.
EDIT: oh I see where you said use them on the D line. But same basic principle. NFL offense linemen would technique the **** out of those dudes. |

We should sign Usain Bolt while we’re at it!

It’s not unthinkable. The league has tried athletes from other sports. Jamaal Charles was a sprinter at Texas, but he did have a football background.
Wrestling translates well for offensive lineman. Sprinters can pretty well in the NFL if they have football experience. Basketball players at tight end. The Patriots drafted a lacrosse player once. It usually just doesn’t happen unless they’ve got a football background. I do wonder why sumo wrestlers haven’t been more readily considered as “nose tackle” projects. Their skill set projects well, I’d think. |

I've heard that some baseball pitchers/shortstops might make a serviceable transition to football....

That Thor dude from Iceland might have worked. He played pro basketball until he had a persistent ankle issue. I think he won strongest man a couple of times.

Even though they likely have the size and strength, it would take years to teach them the game and develop those guys to get them ready for professional football, which in the end may never happen. Brock Lesner (Pro wrestler and MMA fighter) tried out with the Vikings and couldn’t get on the field.
Tl/dr— too much of an investment in time and resources when there are thousands of lineman to choose from in colleges across the country. |

We should sign Andre the Giant- he would be great for the defense- put him on one side and Hulk Hogan on the other.

Always brings me back to the old battle of the stars, or whatever. Royals vs. Steeler? Royals kicked their ass. A turning point in my life for sure as I never would have imagined that outcome.

Not really sure just what is left of those dudes once you make them stop taking steroids and other PEDs.
