Good to really discuss football.

BTW: This has been used against QB's before.

Don't blitz, keep them in the pocket, drop back and force them to beat you with their brain and with consistency.

Most running QBs have to prove they can win from the pocket.

Makes you wonder why every team doesn't do this against all elite qbs.

Just simply refuse to get beat deep.

Some teams have very good defenses and very good running attacks so employing this strategy in those circumstances will usually result in a loss.

And other teams with elite QBs may have such bad receivers/tight ends that blitzing a bit still makes sense.

In the past, offenses would run a defense out of this type of scheme.

If we had a dangerous RB, i don't think defenses could do this against us.

Jamaal Charles wouldn't let this shit happen. He would destroy any defense that disrespected him by running a scheme like that. If your RB can consistently make the 1st tackler miss, this defense scheme is toast.

We're the 7th ranked rushing team in the league right now.

Teams don't give a damn how good our rushing attack may be. They're not coming out of that shell coverage.

That's literally what Belichick has done for 40 years. It's obviously a little more complicated than that and you have to have a good defense to do it. That's how he defended Peyton Manning about every time they played. Forced him to take the underneath stuff and made sure the defense kept everything in front of them at all costs. You can still win but you'll have to reel off a bunch of 10-15 play drives to do it.

The most famous example is what he did against Jim Kelly in the Super Bowl 30 years ago. It's been told a million times, you can probably look it up. The Bills were this all-time great high flying offense. Belichick told the Giants defense that they were selling out to stop the pass and let Thurman Thomas have whatever he wants on the ground. Thomas ran wild but they shut them down enough to win.

It's easier to get those 10-15 play drives when you get a defensive holding call on every critical third down.

I’ve always wondered if that story would be remembered without the wide right.

I knew someone would beat me to it. What teams are doing is nearly identical to how defenses limited Peyton.

I’ve wondered if a no huddle with Hill, Gordon, Kelce, Gray and Williams would allow us top level versatility that every skill position can split out wide or inline block for runs to give us more beef to overload the defenses trying to load up with DBs to force us to kill them with a thousand cuts.

Ok, then here’s a few 300-360 pounders to pile drive those DBs into submission.

Maybe it limited Peyton, but it sure as shit isn't limiting Mahomes.

We could run this defense and our DBs would still get run by and mossed for big gains.
