First draft this year

I finally sat down to try to do a 7 round mock and used the PFN mock draft tool.

I made one trade to move back in the third to move up in the fourth:

31: Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College
63: Derick Hall, edge, Auburn
98: Tyler Steen, OT, Bama
122: Jammie Robinson, S, FSU
134: Isaiah McGuire, edge, Mizzou
140: Moro Ojomo, DT, Texas
166: Rejzohn Wright, CB, Oregon State
217: Camren McDonald, TE, FSU
249: Khalan Laborn, RB, Marshall
250: Karl Brooks, DT, Bowling Green

I worked to search for athletic guys who had something interesting in their resume. I also prioritized youth and tried not to draft anyone over 23.5 years old.

Rejzohn Wright performed well against Jordan Addison this season

Khalan Laborn was a former 5 star running back who was dismissed from FSU for violating team rules, put up solid numbers at Marshall this season

Karl Brooks appears to be the type that can play inside or out and had 12 sacks this seeason for Bowling Green

I don't think it sucks. I would have liked to seen another WR but.. eh. Not sold on any PS guys we have presently have and think there is a strong possibility we go into the season with 6 WR's with some of the concerns of the present group. Add 2 from the draft and find one from what we have now, then maybe you just could throw up your cards not be so scared of where they fall.

I like the picks of Flowers, Hall, McGuire, Ojomo, Wright, and Brooks. I think Karl Brooks will be sneaky value in the 7th. I'm not certain I would have picked Wright @ 166 though, and would probably have taken a chance to wait till 217.

Other than that, it isn't any better or worse than what any of us bums could put together.

PFN has had Zay and Hall there consistently for us. I've probably taken them 10x the last two days. I dont know if they are actually there when push comes to shove.

The vast majority of these selections are all home runs.

I don't like either of your additions at DT, but your picks everywhere else are so damn solid it doesn't matter.

Thanks man, that's a nice compliment coming from a poster like you. Some of these mocks are way off when it comes to where players will go, but you learn a lot by doing it.

I had to get my Longhorns homer pick in there, so that's why I took Ojomo. I do feel like he is going to surprise some people though. He's super young for a guy with as much experience in the college game as he does. I think he has a lot of physical and mental development he can tap into.

I’m going to be watching a lot more Zay in the next couple weeks. I recently heard on a pod about not wanting to compare him to AB, because of those lofty expectations, but they couldn’t help but see it.

And Veach has given praise to certain players not on our team, but I don’t know of any that went as far as his with AB
