I thought this was interesting. Haven't read SI for years so I would not have know about this. But I think both of those AI songs are terrible, soulless, generic creations. What say you all?

I really wish there was a way that I could block search results from bringing up the garbage sites that are using AI to publish garbage. I can tell real writing from AI, and the AI stuff is always a complete waste of time.

The long-term worry may be that older people have enough experience to tell the AI is garbage, but where will a 5 year-old get that experience?

This. It was a great publication at one point. Haven’t read any of their “content” for years. Still bought both editions after the Chiefs SB wins though (just for the covers).

There is/will be so much AI generated garbage online, whatever search tool you use, will have to use AI to sift/filter through it for you.

Essentially alleging that SI makes up entire bios and online personas for AI 'authors' and then posts the articles as legit.

Here's the response:

Today, an article was published alleging that Sports Illustrated published AI-generated articles. According to our initial investigation, this is not accurate.

I do like that in their response they had to say "According to our internal investigation..."

Like, should you REALLY have to qualify this one, Sports Illustrated? Shouldn't you have your hand on the rudder well enough here to be able to categorically deny it? Because man, that mealy-mouthed 'rebuttal' is all but an admission that SI has become little more than a glorified content aggregator at this point. The organization doesn't know enough about what they're publishing to be able to say "We don't publish AI content" without qualifying it first.

Well, if you want to live in the horse and buggy age..., I guess you'll be fine.

But good luck finding or making sense of anything in the 2030's with a search engine that doesn't have some type of sophisticated filter/AI equivalent.

ChatGPT isn't perfect, but the AI bots are only going to get better until more and more of the internet is going to be one AI bot arguing with another AI bot or AI generated product reviews and AI generated content, etc.

That's my guess anyway.
