Anyone live in the Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach Area?

If so, what is it like?

Thanks.

Never been to either place, but just off the top of my head I'd say, space shuttles and lots of chocolate milk?

Don't live there but stayed there a few times.
Typical beach community. Except for Rockets taking off every couple of days. Crews ships in and out just as frequently as rocker launches.

I mean, I live in Orlando which is about 45 minutes West of there. Very different vibe, though.

Cocoa’s a relatively small beach town so I guess I’d describe it as quaint and mostly quiet. As others mentioned, lots of tourists coming through for the beaches, shuttle launches and cruises. The beaches themselves are good compared to most in America but pretty mediocre compared to the best Florida has to offer.

I suppose I'll mildly hijack the thread and ask about tourism recs as well. My wife and I are visiting over Presidents Day weekend, staying up near Titusville and hoping we'll get lucky and catch a launch of one sort or another.

We're planning to visit KSC, spend a little time in Cocoa Beach, and go kayaking with manatees. If anyone has any other can't miss things to do, let me know. (We skew toward outdoor and active or cultural attractions more than sitting or swimming - not big on the beach.)

Just to be on the safe side, you should probably reach out to Donger and find out when he's going to be there.
