Whoever signed that Graham contract should be shot in the face.

If a team could see into the future and realize Tony was nowhere near slowing down when he signed his last contract, he could have easily gotten a $50M contract somewhere else.
Just admit, as of right now, Tony has easily outplayed the contract extension he signed in 2006. Can you do it? Are you capable of admitting you are wrong when you say Tony Gonzalez is overpaid? |

I'm not a big proponent of paying TE's so....I'm going to say if I paid a TE what he makes I'd expect what he's doing now.
That's a large compliment from me in my view of how you should spend your money in building a team. |

Tony is one of a handfull of people on this team currently earning his paycheck. Anything less than a mid second round draft pick in exchange is a slap in the face. He brings more to a team than just a physically gifted athlete.

Clark is going to be 30 around the same time Gonzalez is 33. Clark signed his contract when he was 29, Tony when he was 30.
Clark signed this contract at age 29. 2/20/2008: Signed a six-year, $36 million contract. The deal includes $27 million in the first three years. Another $5.76 million is available through incentives. 2008: $605,000, 2009: $3.3 million, 2010: $4 million, 2011: $4.2 million, 2012: $4.53 million, 2013: $5.33 million, 2014: Free Agent Aren't you a big fan of how Indianapolis runs their organization? They gave an aging tight end who is injury prone and half as productive as Tony Gonzalez a bigger contract with more guaranteed money. |

Mecca's first post is on the mark. The Pats let him go for a reason. Using that contract to jusify Gonzales' deal only shows that the Donkos were as dumb as Carl.

This thread is a test for Mecca...
Can Mecca ever admit he's wrong about something? Because he's most definitely wrong about the Chiefs overpaying for an "aging" tight end. |

Clark gets a richer contract at around the same age Tony signed his contract and he's had a lot of past injuries, he's never sniffed even close to 1,000 yards and up until last year never had a season of 500 yards receiving. |

The Colts have gone out of their way to keep all of their receivers for Manning I didn't really like what they gave Harrison at his age either. They made moves to please Peyton I guess that's ok for a player like that sometimes.

Chris Baker has a 3 year deal with over $9M guaranteed...tight end's make money. Mecca continues to be a know-it-all who is wrong as much as he's right.

He is a bit injury prone....I think they're going out of their way for Manning here, I can't say I fault them but I'm luke warm on a couple of this contracts, they make up for it the way they replace LB's every single year with late round picks. |

I doubt Peyton cares about Dallas Clark...Marcus Pollard was a top tight end with Manning throwing him the ball...even Utecht had a bunch of catches with Manning and he even makes that Fletcher guy a formidable tight end. I doubt Peyton would have bitched up a storm had Clark not been re-signed. But way to continuously deflect your absurd stance on Tony Gonzalez being overpaid and how he chose the money rather than signing with a competitive team...he would have got this contract from several different teams. |

That's why I used a Colts contract...an organization that gets you off...they signed Clark to a richer contract at around the same age as Tony Gonzalez and Clark has never sniffed Tony Gonzalez' productivity...and he has Peyton friggin' Manning throwing for 4,000+ yards ever year.
