Walking Dead, but you have to like zombie type stuff.
I also like Elementary on CBS (A Sherlock Holmes variation. Modern day, set in NYC) That's one of the better ones, I think. I would try that one if you haven't. Also, the BBC, "Sherlock" TV show was/is great if you can find it. In general I watch quite a few of the BBC mysteries that appear on PBS Masterpiece Mysteries. They're basically detective shows. "Wallander" is one. Kenneth Branagh stars in that as a detective. I like that one. But, those aren't regular series. You have to wait for PBS to run Masterpiece Mysteries and then record them, and then see if it's one you like. |

Mad Men. You must watch Mad Men now.
I made a similar thread to this awhile back, I'll see if I can find it. |

Mad Men & Friday Night Lights are absolute musts.
It's not a drama per se, but if you like unexpected, deeply human comedy, Louie is phenomenal. One of the top 3-5 show son TV right now. |

I'd just add to that that the last episode is satisfying and not some type of weird cutoff where the series didn't make sense because it didn't get a second season.
A second (or 5th or 6th) season would have been great and would have worked, but the series still stands strongly at one season. They just put the second season up on Netflix.

Very different, milieu-wise, but Game of Thrones has some seriously heavy character development and crazy twists and turns.
