Drafting Mazi sounds like something Carl Peterson would have done. Draft a tip DT in the first knowing that Jones would be looking for an extension.

Glad we didn't make this trade and stayed where we were at and drafted FAU.
Apparently Mazi hasn't exactly been impressing in Cowboy country: https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/artic...17068_39160669 |

Thankfully that didn't happen. Was never really on the Mazi Smith train. I was firmly on the Keeanu Benton and Karl Brooks train.

If it were me it would have been Anton Harrison, who has looked very good for the Jags thus far.
Cowboys reporters tweeted we wanted Mazi and that's why we got turned down. Nate Taylor was talking about Mazi Smith for weeks before the draft for a reason..

LOL. Why the **** do they still let JJ be the main dude for the draft? He doesn't know shit. "I..I..I'm not trying to influence anybody in here"....dude, you're the owner. Nobody is going to argue against you.
No wonder that franchise hasn't won shit in 30 years.

They were trying to get ahead of Doug Peterson and Jacksonville, who drafted Anton Harrison. Harrison is a tackle, he played OL at Oklahoma, and was widely regarded as a good LT prospect (even though Jax has moved him over to RT). And he ended up being drafted by a former Andy Reid lieutenant. Shortly after the draft, the Chiefs signed Donovan Smith. Harrison was the guy they were after. |

I guess I should say he was a guy they were after.
I'd bet money they were sold on Zay Flowers and probably Mazi Smith, too. |
