Week 8 Power Rankings Roundup
Back for another week's edition. Here's where the AFCW stands in the minds of the pundits.



Most of the opinion-based rankings have us at #1 right now, which is natural given that we're the only undefeated team. However, the stats-based rankings are a little less positive and have us around #5 on average. Honestly, I tend to lean toward the stats-based approaches, but time will tell.

Looks like the AFC and NFC are settling into a less volatile pattern. Clearly, everyone who said the NFC was going to stomp all over the AFC this season weren't exactly correct.

With the surge of the Chargers into respectability, the AFC West has continued its climb and is now the undisputed toughest division in the NFL.



This one's actually kind of amusing to me if you look at the NFC East. After the Broncos and Chiefs got done beating the shit out of them, they have been slowly climbing back into the ranks of respectability.

The Chargers do scare me a bit. They're playing pretty well. If I didn't know anything about football, I'd acknowledge the possibility of all three of the top AFC West teams playing against each other in the Super Bowl.

The only stat that matters is the win/loss column. So I'll take our record, along with the opinion based approach of the pundits (which is based in part on what they've seen from the Chiefs) over the stat-based approach.

I've gathered the power rankings (somewhat manually) from around the internet. All of the charts are custom.

Special requests are welcome as well. The time-consuming (and boring) part is gathering the data. After that, it's easy to play with.
