Kirk Cousins?

Eh....

Shane P. Hallam @ShanePHallam
Jim Zorn complimented a throw from Kirk Cousins "nice touch" #seniorbowl #chiefs

If he's taken in the 3rd+, i wouldn't have an issue with it.

Position: QB
Conference: Big10
School: Michigan State Spartans
Year/Status: Senior
Jersey Number: #8
Height & Weight: 6'3 - 205 lbs.
Ranked #84 on our Top 100 Prospects Board

2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Kirk Cousins, QB, Michigan State
Cousins is one of many senior quarterbacks with a very high potential to make the leap into the first three rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft.
Whether it is his excellent intangibles or good arm strength, there's a lot to like about Cousins as a quarterback prospect. He's the all-time leader in Michigan State history for wins as a starting QB.

What teams will like about Cousins is his ability to deliver the football quickly with above average arm strength. When it comes to those short and intermediate routes, he displays good accuracy (even with pressure coming his way). At the next level, he'll need to really improve his ability to pull the trigger and trust his talent for reading defenses. He doesn't always make the right pre-snap reads and if he is shuffling around the pocket, his mechanics struggle. Being able to be patient, plant his feet and drive through his hips when delivering the football is a talent he'll need to continue to develop as a pro.

Cousins does just about everything well, but no particular talent of his really jumps out. There are a lot of second-tier quarterbacks who may push him into the later rounds, so it is vital he shows the smaller skills like scrambling and extending the play that make him an intriguing third round prospect in the 2012 NFL Draft.

He is an inch shorter and about 20lbs lighter than both Cassel and Stanzi.

He has a ton of Stanzi in him, it would appear. Ultimately I get the impression that Stanzi's a better athlete, though Cousins may throw a slightly more accurate ball.

I'd rather give The American Hero a shot; he's a year further along in his development and seems to have a little more frame to work with, but if Cousins is there in the 5th like Stanzi was last season, I'd certainly grab him.

They're not going to use a high pick on a QB, so throwing numbers at the problem could work.

Kirk Cousins, Michigan State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 209.
Projected 40 Time: 4.85.
Arm: 31 1/4. Hand: 9 7/8.
Projected Round (2012): 3-4.
1/9/12: At times this season, Cousins displayed good potential, but was held back by an offense that aimed to keep the ball on the ground. Against a good Nebraska defense, he struggled. However, Cousins came up clutch in the Spartans' two games against the Badgers. He threw three touchdowns in each of the battles with Wisconsin. For the season, Cousins completed 65 percent of his passes for 3,016 yards with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

8/18/11: Kirk Cousins completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 2,825 yards with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Like Foles, Cousins’ numbers were similar to his sophomore year production when he completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,680 yards and 19 touchdowns with nine picks.

Cousins has an enough of an arm to be a starting NFL quarterback. He is a good game-manager who could be a good quarterback to install in a play-action-based passing attack with a strong running game. When given time to throw Cousins is very effective. He struggles and makes bad decisions when he gets defensive linemen in his face. Cousins will have to improve that to have a shot at sneaking into the first round. He has good leadership skills. The smart and efficient signal caller is the type of quarterback who should have a solid senior year and is a safe bet to be a second-round draft pick.

- Kirk Cousins just threw a beautiful pass to Marvin McNutt for a long gainer. Cousins was pressured heavily by Cam Johnson of Virginia, but patiently sat in the pocket and delivered an accurate strike.

Well he's a great interview, he was hilarious on the Dan Patrick show a while back... Other than that I don't see the appeal in drafting a guy with a relatively high floor and low ceiling...

I think you're right. We aren't gonna draft a top qb so our only hope is to keep drafting guys like stanzi, cousins, etc and hope one turns into a brady

Drafting him only complicates our developmental bench of QBs. If we're going to add another young guy, we need a first rounder/somebody we're willing to be patient with if/when we hand him the starting job.

Drafting more 5th round garbage is not going to fix the problem. It's just not. It's only going to complicate matters. Look at Arizona's QB problem. It's a goddamned mess. Max Hall was originally the future, then they traded for Kevin Kolb, and now it looks like John Skelton is the best of all three of them? No thanks. I don't want that headache if the end result is just going to be several more seasons without a real franchise QB.

Exactly. Pick one and stick with him. Start with Stanzi until an upgrade is available.
