We aren't playing with a full team

We have place fillers at many positions. We are playing people just to fill the position:

Croyle/Huard, McIntosh, Jones, Darling, Donnie Edwards, Thomas are essentially place holders.

One or two of them might make a play or two from time to time, but they are huge liabilities. We won't be a good team with this many weaknesses on the field.

I feel the same way about our coaching staff. They are place filles. They don't significantly contribute to the team's chances of winning.

We had too many place fillers to win a very winnable game.

Agree on the players. Do you think we can fill the remaining holes in one more draft? Or will it take two?

One offseason should do it. Mix of free agents and another good draft.

Best case scenario is a playoff contender in '09 and the start of a superbowl-calibre 2-3 year run in 2010.

Hopefully we're working towards a period where we can reload instead of rebuild, and be the next decade's version of the early '00s patriots.

With our luck, we'll be the early '90s chiefs.

Yeah, it's sad to say, but Donnie Edwards looks like a liability out there. Hopefully he can straighten out if his leg heals up.

Realistically 2. If we got a QB and 2 starters next year it would be a great draft. We're going to have some place fillers starting next year, too, unless we bring in 3 FA or so.

The QB position is especially critical since it might take two or three atempts to find a keeper.

There are some other guys that are on my "maybe list" that we might have to replace too.

We are in the beginning stages of the rebuild.

That is where we are heading if we don't get a franchise QB. Especially with Herm as coach.

It won't happen. We'll get some retread in here, because our one chance at a QBOTF has the toughness of stained glass.

It was destined when we signed him. He was too old.

We're just short one Bobby Sippio...who, BTW, would have hauled in a 5-yard TD catch for us when we needed it...not to mention all hell and fury he would have unleased on the Patties' secondary in OT!

Considering one of the things we need is a QB, there's no telling how long this will take.

Would be nice to get a new GM and HC.

I want complete change. I don't want Herm to be promoated to GM and give someone else the HC spot.

I don't want anybody from this organization to be promoted to GM. We need new blood. We need to pluck somebody from the NE, Indy, Steelers programs.

They have to plug in a vet.

If we were going to rebuild with a rookie QB, develop from within, we needed to draft him in '06 or '07. Taking a QB in '09 would be throwing in the towel and saying "the rebuild starts now, we'll compete in 2011."
