If you chose to save your original files or archive them then you can uninstall SP2 via command line. I will look and see. You may try and reboot into safe mode and then try to uninstall SP2. |

Directions
I believe SP2 is a wonderful upgrade; however, it obviously causes some problems on a few systems. If you are one of these unlucky ones, here are a couple of way of removing service packs. From the hidden $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder 1. Click Start 2. Click Run 3. Type the following in the open textbox: c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuninst.exe 4. Click OK 5. The removal wizard will start to walk you through the removal. |

The weird thing is that other programs WILL open. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

This happens with Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer, Control Panel. Those are all that I've identified so far. Other programs (Word, Excel, PP, AVG, Ad-Aware, etc.) open just fine.

You may have some processes hanging. If you can open up Windows Task Manager click on the Processes tab and try to close iexplore.exe and explorer.exe. Then click on the File Menu, chose New Task and type in explorer.exe and see if that solves your problem. |

After doing some checking it seems you have a common problem with some other people. I will see what I can find out for you.

I ran iexplore.exe and it briefly showed up in the processes list, then disappeared.

Is a blinking cursor on a black screen good or bad?
