Why do most of you feel the Chiefs should draft a Defensive lineman this year?

I feel that the D-line is almost set. Our needs are mainly at Linebacker and defensive backs. Also, are there any can't miss punters in this years draft.

We desperately need a DE who can actually put pressure on the QB so he doesn't have time (aka Manning) to pick our pathetic secondary apart. Which brings me to the obvious second point...we need a secondary. Erasmus James may fall to us...and if he does...I will not complain at all. The guy is a beast. He'll have to be double-teamed...
and that gives people like Sims and Savaii more chances to do their thing. It's hard to say where we suck more...the run D or the Pass D...
someone help me out.

Who's everyone? I've heard hardly anyone say we should draft a D-lineman first. I think most want a CB or LB first.

And to add to that, we need a D-Lineman that commands a double team in pass rush, so the the blitzes that Gun sends aren't so easily picked up by oppossing O-Lines.

I think Savaii will be taking those double teams next fall.

I think he has shown potential, and I hope you're right, but I still believ that we need to replace Hicks.
He's an effort guy, as DickWad calls him, and I have a lot of respect for the him because of the hardships he had to endure while trying to make the teams roster as an undrafted FA rookie, but the bottom line is, as I've said before, effort doesn't=production, and Hicks just doesn't produce.

I thought that Jared Allen did pretty well with 9 sacks in 10 starts for a fourth round pick. IIRC that is one shy of DT's rookie season.
I do think that Hicks needs replaced as the starter though.
Sims is usually double teamed already.

Ours needs are many, so skilled talent at any position would be welcome. Personally, I would give our 1st and 2nd to move to the 8, 9 or 10 hole to get DJohnson.

Why do most of you feel the Chiefs should draft a Defensive lineman this year?

Because Eric Hicks is still starting.

We've worked hard on our D line every since DV booted McGlockton and Williams and we've finally made some head way with Dalton and Allen but John Browning is still starting at DT. I like Browning but we can do better for a starter IMO. Just trying to keep things in perspective

Starting, best D-Lineman (cuz he has a motor that doesn't stop according to DV), and he's the frick'n Defensive "leader". Dude wouldn't be 2nd string anywhere else. He's living off one season - when DT was still alive.
